easy and interesting
I recieved my book and have only briefly looked over it but I was very pleased. I was able to quickly look up questions I had and the author had enough information for me to use. The author gives example that a beginner like myself can use or more advanced succulent gardener could appreciate. The photos are beautiful and generous throughout the whole book. I was really happy with this purchase and would recomend it. This book insn't so much of a "how too", so if your looking for step by step, look elsewhere. The title of this book doesnt suggest it's a how too, i just want to help any buyers to know what their getting. This would be a nice gift. The ideas in this book are creative and inspiring!! AAA's all around from me.

Another Debra Lee Baldwin masterpiece on succulents
Debra Lee Baldwin introduced the world to the vast, beautiful, entertaining and creative world of succulents with her first book, Designing With Succulents, in 2007. Using the ideal climate of San Diego, CA as her setting, she explored hundreds of gardens to showcase succulents in outdoor settings. In this second book Debra shrunk those garden design concepts to container size, enabling those who live in colder climes to enjoy miniature versions of these fabulous Mediterranean-style gardens in their homes and on their summer patios. Filled with hundreds of photos and ideas, plus all the growing tips you need to make your own succulent container gardens, this book is a gem.

Beautiful Book
I really like this book, it's so fun to look at. It has amazing pictures! It doesn't give information on care but has great pictures and has given me a lot of great ideas for how to show case my plants. If anything just buy it for the pictures. This is one of those books that would go great on a coffee table.

Good gardening in pots with succulents book!
This is an excellent book on showcasing succulents. The photography alone is worth the price of the book. I understand the author takes the photos herself. Having said that, this isn't a how to book; it's more about setting up gardens, primarily in pots but also has some emphasis on outdoor gardens. There is a section on care and lists in the back of which succulents need sun or will survive in less light, etc.Ms. Baldwin has written many books on succulents and I'm hard pressed to decide which to buy next. I found one here at Amazon a couple day ago by her that is more about care of succulents so perhaps I'll get it next. I understand her fascination with succulents as they come in so many different shapes, sizes and even some colors such as blue. Many will bloom. They are not water hogs so they will mind their own business if one travels for a week and leaves them to their own devices. Overwatering is the worst thing one can do to a succulent or cactus. Great book.

I purchased this for my daughter-in-law’s birthday. She loves it and has gotten numerous ideas for her garden in Arizona.

Stunningly beautiful, and full of advice
I was prompted to purchase this book after a beautiful photo accompanying a review in the paper caught my eye. I have been intrigued by succulents, and due to space considerations appreciated the special approach regarding containers. The book itself is breathtaking in its beauty. You can see the author's expertise with photography as well as her plant and design knowledge throughout. My first use of the book was to learn more about the succulents I have been growing, and how to help them thrive (some can tolerate lower light conditions, for example). I repotted and arranged them, and then have moved forward to purchase some new plants for further experimentation. While the book could serve as a coffee table item, please do use it to put together artful arrangements of these most stunning plants!

Trust Me, Buy the Hard Copy
This is an awesome book on container gardening. Ms. Baldwin accepted the challenge of demystifying succulents and how to grow them. And she did a wonderful job!She starts off by pairing plants with various pot types and styles. From there she talks about the many types of succulents along with some companion plants to consider. At the same time, you can see colorful photos with crisp detail. If you are a visual person like me, I can't say enough good things about the importance of well-developed pictures. She talks about displaying your plants, the proper care and, lastly, she gives you some wonderful plant lists. If you are ever considering growing this family of plants, I would tell you to consider investing in the hard copy. It is money well-spent; you will get much use from this book.
