OverMolded Rubber Tamer Grip with Finger Grooves for Ruger GP100 | Also Fits Super Redhawk, Black - 80020

These Hogue Tamer grips are a great upgrade over the original rubber and wood-panel grips on my Ruger GP100. The factory grips were already comfortable, but these make the revolver even more enjoyable to shoot. The rubber material, finger grooves, and cushioned backstrap provide a secure grip and help soften the feel of recoil. This is useful when shooting full-power 357 mag ammo, and the added padding is very noticeable during longer range sessions. The finger grooves are a little tight on my hand. I am 6'1" and wear a large glove, so shooters with larger hands may find the spacing slightly cramped. This may not be an issue at all for someone with small or medium-sized hands. Overall, these take an already comfortable revolver and make it easier and more pleasant to shoot. They may not look as traditional as the factory wood-panel grips, but they are a worthwhile upgrade.

Great grip on my Super Redhawk. It has definitely tamed my firearm's kick. Here's some thoughts: - NOTE, other reviewers said this grip does not fit their SRH. Not sure what happened for them, but if you'll look at the attached picture, that is my SRH with the grips on it. And, it was quite easy to install. I had the entire swap-out done in less than 5 minutes. - It fits my hand perfectly. Some other reviewers sated that it was way too big. I'm 5'11" and have normal sized hands (see picture, sorry, but for some reason when Amazon imports my picture, it's flipping it upside down. I tried everything to fix this, and it's not working). - It definitely tames the bite of my 454 Casull Super Redhawk. The kick on the 454's with the stock Ruger grip AND Ruger aftermarket laminated grip is BRUTAL! Really not a fun round to shoot much. Great for hunting, not for the range. This grip takes a notable amount of "felt recoil" out of the firearm when shooting the 454 cartridge. When shooting 45 Colt out of it with these grips makes for almost no kick at all. - I thought the price of this grip was very reasonable compared to Ruger grips or other aftermarket grips. Overall, these are great grips and will likely remain on my SRH likely indefinitely. The stock Ruger grips are going to remain in the drawer, or sold. Great option for GP100 if you're looking for more tactile grip with better profile and get moderate recoil cushioning as an extra. If you used to hold the gun high - you'll need to get used to slightly thicker handle up top compared to OEM. I ran PMC Bronze 158gr .357Mag (759 ft/lb) through GP100 4.2" with standard grips - the recoil felt sharp, unpleasant snap to your hands. With these grips - it feels very manageable, more "pushy" than "snappy". The .38 Spcl with these grips and from the gun of this size feels like a joke. The profile of the grip very closely resembles to wooden grips from Hogue. Texture feeling: for a range day - feels perfect; for carry - it's too tacky, grabs clothes easily. So be mindful how you're planning to use your tool.

I have the GP100 Match Champion which comes with a beautiful Hogue wood grip. That grip didn’t match well and actually dug into my index finger because of a gap between the gun’s trigger guard and grip. There is No gap between trigger guard and this grip. Fits perfectly into my hand. I can tell that I will have much better control and accuracy because my grip feels so much more secure than the wooden OEM. Looks sharp too. Installation was easier than it’s made out to be in the instructions. Took me just a few minutes.

Plenty of reviewers say the same things I'm gonna say. Hogue OEM grips are typically OK, catering to generic shooters. Hogue fancy wood grips are beautiful, wide variety of woods, and always fit perfectly. (Ok here's the but...) BUT with exception of Tamers they are all too dang slim and small for my hands. Learned my lesson with the skimpy "peg" grips on my .44 special, even though .44 special is not especially harsh recoiling. Thought I'd try them out just to see, was a sorry lil' critter at just twelve rounds. I've been shooting things that start with "40" since I was big enough to hold them by myself, and the Hogue OEM grips were the worst EVER. Got Tamers two days later from Amazon and haven't looked back. Others also discuss the OEM grips of the Match Champion. Knew even before I got it that a grip change was in order. Yup, held it right out of the box and my fingers reached around it into the palm of my hand. Uh Oh. So Tamers going on it too for everyday, with custom rosewood third-party Roper/coke bottle style for when we both (the gun and me) feel like fancy dress (for you Westerners, yes when it needs to be a "barbecue gun"). Ruger's are good guns that are tough and will always go bang when they need to. (Another but..) BUT here's a useful new Ruger check list. 1) Unless it's a Match Champion (which are splendid out of the box), immediately take/send it to a qualified revolver-smith to make it the kind of gun it should have been before leaving the factory (sorry Ruger, we all know.. blogs aren't kind... the after-market tuners really appreciate the work though...). 2) While waiting for the tune up to be finished order Tamers for normal use. 3) Donate the OEM grips to anyone you especially don't like. Have not fired revolver yet with grip installed, however I can say with certainty that it it much more comfortable in the hand and easier to maintain a firm grip than with the original "horse hoof" as I like to call revolver grips. The material, palm swells and finger contours all add up to a confidence inspiring feel. I cal also tell from years of shooting handguns that the soft spongy insert that is there to lessen the recoil jab it gives you in the crotch of your thumb will be a welcomed addition. I don't even know why Hogue bothers with the standard version of this grip. Installation was a breeze too, once I figured out how to keep the little saddle pointed towards the hole to get the screw aligned. There are two frame versions for the models this will fit. It will accommodate either but you have to pay attention. I simply figured it out on my own, though there wasn't much to think about. The stock grips will never see this gun again, I dont care how fancy the wood looks or how much rubber Ruger puts around the outside edge of them they still suck. I have no clue why pistol manufacturers don't use rubber grips like thing right from the start. Instead they make you buy aftermarket stuff if you want to hang onto it worth a darn. I rated 4 stars based on what I know so far, saved one star in case the thing falls apart after some use... **update** Have carried and fired the gun with this grip, and not only has it not fallen apart, it helps with recoil comfort alot! I have it on a SRH in 44 mag with the 9.5" bbl, and despite conventional thinking that the longer the barrel the less the recoil (HA!) this thing kicks like a donkey with it's nuts in a noose with the hunting loads I made for it, but they're not as bad on the web of the hand as the other grips. Add the other star!

Absolute garbage. Instructions claim stirrup is one piece and made of spring steel but it doesn't return to form and falls to multiple pieces the instant you spread it to install per instructions. It breaks rather than return to proper form.

Fits like a glove on the Ruger Match Champion. The stock grips are nice on the MC but this Hogue is really an improvement, especially for shooting .357 Magnums. Eats up a lot of the recoil.

This hand grip is amazing at soaking up the recoil from the 357 loads, it came on time and as described. Very comfortable grip

I love the look of my custom wood grips on my GP100, but you can't beat these grips for comfort. Excellent.
