I believe these would work for ice cream.

Will these hold up for Shrimp Gumbo? Are they big enough for healthy portions?

They would be more sturdy than paper or styrofoam, in my opinion. They are quite large and should make for serving a good size portion. My only concern would be putting hot liquids in them as they are a plastic material and the bowl will get really hot so I wouldn't give one to a child (or an adult) to carry across the room. You would want to fill the bowls at the table and not handle them without something to protect your hands like a pot holder. You could hold the bowl by the lip, but not sure if it would bend under the weight.

Too shalllow and too small for soup, but perfect for salad or pasta. Very well made and finished, NR9 has really good products. 4 stars because we cannot use them for soup.
