is this compatible with WIN8?

I have Win 8.1 (Samsung Ativ with i7 CPU & 8GB RAM) and have just install the Pinnacle today.  I didn't have to restart my laptop.  Initially saw some issue with some Script when first brought up the Pinnacle software, so I just ignored it.  I'm capturing the miniDV from my old Canon HV20, and so far it's been going ok.  I stopped the capture after 20 minutes to review what it captured.  In my target folder, I got a video only file, and 2 WAV files (probably for left & right audio channels).  The video looks good (16:9 aspect ratio).  So I believe it's ok with Win 8.1.  If you need to buy this, just make sure you buy it from amazon as you can always return it should you encounter incompatibility.  Hope that helps.

does this product has internal memory for recording videos directly into it? Or it is just a device for convertig video formats?

This product will capture analog video (From composite or S-Video) and analog audio (Like a VHS player, or older analog Camcorder), AND/OR capture Digital Video/Audio from devices (like a Digital Camcorder) that use a Firewire interface to transfer the video Digitally, (from the digitally stored source which would be it's highest possible quality).  In both cases, the video is stored digitally on your computer's Hard Drive, so you can convert it to other formats (Such as a DVD or other formats such as MPEG-4/Xvid/DivX/H.264) or to backup and archive without further compression so you can later convert to digital video processing technologies as they evolve. (Such as video enhancing, deinterlacing, and more efficient methods of video encoding; H.264/H.265...)

How many pins is the dv input have?

For the dv input side there are three options plus 2 for audio. A DV plug is has 6 contact points , three on top and three on the bottom. It has an RCA input, or and S Video input plug

I think you should not install the Pinnacle versión that came with movie box, because it is an older one. The new versión you have must work with the box.
