Cake Beauty Curl Friend Curl Defining Shampoo, Conditioner & Cream Set - Avocado & Argan Oil Curly Hair Products - Anti-Frizz, Cruelty Free & Vegan Gift Set

Ok. So I have been using these, along with their separately purchased leave in conditioner, for a month now. I have type 2B-2C, medium course, fairly thick, no dyes/no heat styling, naturally gray(but it is actually blonde, who knew?), 60 year old, Irish girl wavy/curly hair. My honest review: it smells nice, but not overpowering and it doesn't hang around all day. It feels nice on your hair and rinses clean. The conditioner is pretty good at doing the job. The curl cream is good, but don't over-do it, especially if you also used a leave-in conditioner first. A little goes a long way if you apply to appropriately wet hair and brush it through well. My hair is left feeling soft, not weighed down, not frizzy, and managable. I will be buying this again and I would recommend it to family and friends. And, I actually love the leave-in conditioner and will be using it exclusively, even if I use other shampoo/conditioners.

First off- too many reviews about the “bad scent”. The smell of a product is subjective. The scent smells slightly like bubble gum and light cinnamon mixed. So if ya like that- great. If not- move along to another product. Second - I think too many don’t understand how to really apply product and care for curly hair. I bought the shampoo, conditioner, and styling cream set. My hair gets used to products and I have to switch up occasionally. This is my switch up product. Upon first use, my hair is extremely soft, shiny, flexible and bouncy. Assuming you know how to shampoo and condition your own hair lol let’s skip to the styling cream. It should not leave your hair sticky, stringy, straw like, greasy etc. If It does you are using it incorrectly. I prefer to apply to my hair upside down but that’s up to you. Firstly, when you get out of the shower gently remove some excess water with your hands by cupping your hair in hands from the bottom and pushing up. Do this several times until you have removed about 20% of the dripping water from your hair. Don’t soak up 90% of the water from your hair by wrapping it in your terry cloth towel. Then, put a dime size amount of product in your hands and rub then together to spread the product around. Now gently pat the product through your your strands, in sections. We’re not trying to flatten our hair between our hands pulling down here. The point of leaving water in your hair for this step is to let the product and water in your hair mix some and soak into your hair. Get dressed, walk around a few minutes, brush your teeth or whatever to give it a few minutes. Now here’s the best step- don’t scrunch your hair with a towel. Grab an old t shirt and scrunch your hair to now absorb the water out. Air dry or diffuse from here. Also, STOP touching your hair while it’s wet and even damp. Let it dry completely. My blow dryer recently took a poop so I wish I could test diffusing because my hair comes out completely different. But air drying came out great like I would expect.

While it may not work for other people, this has been the best shampoo/conditioner I have found for my curls that costs less than $30 a bottle. I wish they sold these in bigger bottles though. My hair is thick and down to my waist, meaning I go through these tiny bottles quick and the amount of waste in plastic is so sad. The smell is amazing, but does fade before leaving the house. Day 2 hair with a little bit of mist to reactivate the leave in conditioner is wonderful as well.

First time purchasing , and was impressed! First off , love the packaging . As far as the product , I was impressed that it helped my curls without making them greasy. At first I was a little Leary when applying the conditioner because it did feel super slick and oil like. But it did a fantastic job with defining my curls . The smell was cookie like but very subtle and not overbearing. I really enjoyed the hair cream as well. A little goes a long way! I will be purchasing again in the near future !

Smells Amazing, but Didn’t Work for My Curls I was really excited to try this Cake Beauty shampoo, conditioner, and curl cream set. I’ve heard great things about the brand and love that their products are cruelty-free and have clean ingredients. Unfortunately, while the set had some nice qualities, it didn’t end up working for my curly hair type. Starting with the shampoo and conditioner — they smell amazing and do a great job of enhancing and defining curls, just like the description says. I did notice my curl pattern looked more shaped right after using them. However, the downside was that both products left my hair feeling dry. I have naturally curly, heat-damaged hair, so moisture is a must, and this set didn’t deliver that hydration my curls really need. As for the curl cream, I wanted to love it, but it just didn’t perform the way I hoped. My hair was still frizzy after using it, and I didn’t get the level of curl definition I usually get with other products. It felt too light for my texture and didn’t provide the hold or control my curls need — even with layering. I ended up returning the set because I need products that hydrate, define, and reduce frizz all at once. That said, I think this might work better for someone with looser curls or waves who doesn’t need as much moisture or hold. The packaging is beautiful, the scent is lovely, and the ingredients list is impressive — it just wasn’t the right match for my curl type. I appreciate the brand’s clean approach and would still be open to trying other products from Cake Beauty in the future!

Product smells wonderful like baked goods! Leaves curly hair clean and not frizzy.

WHAT!?!??? WOW!!!! I was wanting to buy this product for a while now but I kept putting it off because I have so many others. I should have bought this way earlier but I'm glad I bought it now and this is my now go to curl shampoo and conditioner. It smells absolutely amazing and the smell stays in the hair. It looks pretty which doesn't really matter but it looks good. Wanted to just try the shampoo and conditioner with no product and no routine to see what it did to my hair and how it felt. I have wavy curly hair and I can't even believe what just the shampoo and conditioner did to my hair with no routine or product. I have ringlets I literally brushed my hair once and let it air dry and my hair is Curly and wavy and soft and beautiful and this is the most my hair has ever curled like this. BUY BUY BUY!!! 10/10 Highly recommend

The photo is misleading. It shows the "lemon meringue scent" for all three products. Yet mine came as "Delicate lemon cookie" for the shampoo and conditioner. Unfortunately the "Delicate lemon cookie" scent is gross and makes me gag when I grudge use it. The "lemon meringue" scent is really nice though! So far I am happy with the products, (aside from scent). Cleans my scalp nicely with no irritation or itching afterwards (sensitive skin). I have wavy hair, not curly, but this does help promote my natural wave. I would buy it again, but the "lemon meringue" scent ones 😉.

Acheté comme cadeau pour ma fille qui a les cheveux naturellement bouclés et elle est vraiment ravie des produits. Ça lui donne de belles boucles définies et les produits sentent vraiment bons. Nous racheterons assurément.

I was really excited to try these products because of the description and high rating, sadly I was a little disappointed. While the set did help my curls look defined, it doesn't seem to help with keeping my hair detangled or shiny looking. The scent put me off quite a bit as well. You can definitely tell the scent is lemon, but it doesn't smell natural/fresh at all. The smell of specifically the shampoo and conditioner is quite overwhelming for me, and I'm someone who doesn't mind the smell of a bath and body works haha. Overall I would say the shampoo + conditioner + curl cream set is okay. The best part of the set for me is definitely the curl cream. It worked well with my leave in conditioner, and didn't have the same smell as the shampoo and conditioner. Personally I feel like the coconut and hibiscus line from shea moisture does everything this set is trying to do but better. It was nice to try, but I probably won't buy it again.
