Perfect for an 8 year old boy
My eight year old son is a very good reader, but hated to read. The problem was that his teacher was sending him home with books that were at his reading level, but were of no interest to him. He didn't want chapter books, he still wanted picture books. I found a Captain Awesome book at the library. It met the criteria of being closer to his reading level (He probably reads at 4th or 5th grade level, and these are more at a 2nd or 3rd grade leve, which is his age.) than his favorite picture books, but also having lots of illustrations. He loves the super hero stories and reads them repeatedly. This week, he made his first ever book purchase (with his own money) and it was a Captain Awesome book.

A life saver for a reluctant reader and a desperate mommy!
My 7 year old son is a reluctant reader. He'd rather be playing hockey, football, basketball or building logos. At last we found Captain Awesome!!! We are on our fourth book in the series! Thank you, I may make a reader out of him yet!!
