Last summer when my Chow Chow mix suffered from dematting we couldn't handle, we called in the dog groomer. She showed me the tool she swore by for serious dematting, and I've been trying to find it ever since. This, unfortunately, is not it. But, then again, we haven't had a serious matting issue since, so I'm happy to report that this is a good-enough set that is excellent for mild-moderate brushing. The rake is excellent for tackling a thick undercoat, and it's quite satisfying seeing what the rake can pull up. The comb is long enough in the teeth to get through most coats and sturdy enough to handle the pulling. The pieces here are both very well-made and sturdy. So, a bit of false advertising and this won't handle a real matting problem, but otherwise excellent for more standard grooming.

These grooming combs/rakes do wonders for your pets fur. I have been using this on my pomeranian who sheds like no other and it has helped a ton. While she does not exactly like it when we use this comb, the shedding has been cut down drastically. This comb also does wonders for matting. It really gets in there and helps loosen the fur up so it can be combed again. The comb itself is well made and sturdy.

Brushes work well on larger mixed breeds. I have a senior lab retriever mix and a senior border collie Pitt bull mix and they work great on both of them at getting the undercoat out. The directions and English on the packaging is very confusing and doesn’t make much sense but use common sense when using on your pets and you should be fine. Decent price point. Would recommend and would order again.

These are great for my girlfriends dog. She’s a Belgian Malanois and can get a bit hairy from time to time.This brush helps get under her coat and pulls out the shed she tends to get once a year.Keeps her coat shiny and keeps the hairs off my hand.There’s a second brush that works well as a travel one. Good for the park if she gets anything stuck in her coat... keeps it from getting in the truck!

If your dog has a fine, abundant undercoat, these tools will help a little but are not targeted enough to break up and remove mats.The wider tool with the red handle is meant to save time by covering more area, but the dogs and I found it too wide, since their bodies are curved, not flat. In addition, several of the tines arrived bent, and straightening them risked cracking the surface, so I left them as-is.The narrower tool with the blue handle and curved mini-blades was more successful. I used the wider-apart side first, and then followed with the other side. Unfortunately, the inner curves of these little sickle-shaped blades were not sharpened, which reduced the effectiveness. I liked the size and spacing of the blades on both sides, and really wish that at least the wider-apart side would have been sharpened. Instead, I ended up cutting some of the mats vertically with blunt-tip puppy scissors, but that was not as effective.I have since gotten a smaller tool with blades that are sharpened on the inner curve, and it is working better on the mats. After using that, I can say that the Y-shape handle of this blue-handled tool is more comfortable and provides more leverage for the user.
