Many improvements and one big step back
I'm a big fan of the Mee Audio Matrix2 bluetooth headphones. Although the sound is a bit muddy with the stock pads, with the addition of the Brainwavz HM5 pads they become much more comfortable, the sound becomes less muffled and more neutral and open and they are the best bluetooth headphones I've heard - including models that cost hundreds more. They had their issues though, including the ugly 'carbon fiber' print on the outside of the earcups, the weirdly placed cable jack on the back of one of the earcups, no multipoint connection and somewhat confusing controls. So, I was very excited to hear that Mee Audio came out with an update to the Matrix. On the surface these fix most of the problems I had with the Matrix2 - a handsome black denim on the earcups and headband, larger more comfortable stock earpads, multipoint connection, cable jack on the bottom of the earcup and hinges above the earcups so the whole thing folds down to a nice compact package.Unfortunately the sound is a big step back. With the stock pads it's somewhat muffled and lacks clarity and the midrange has a telephone-like quality. Since the Matrix2's didn't sound at their best with the stock pads I figured the Brainwavz pads might help these too. Unfortunately they don't. The treble becomes harsh, the bass nonexistent and the midrange sounds 5 miles away. It's a shame because I've recommended the Matrix2's to people as their only set of headphones, they're that good. Sadly I'll be sticking with them and sending these back. Hopefully they'll fix the sound in a future iteration.

But the sheer luxury of walking around free from a wired mess, paired with acceptable quality, is something else entirely.
Let's discuss what this headset isn't:*Poor microphone and integration thereof.----The headset has two modes. "Stereo Headphones" and "Hands-Free Headset" mode. Once the microphone is activated(By enabling it in sound manager), the headset switches into "Hands-Free Headset" mode. It lowers the audio quality and it becomes mono instead of stereo. This problem is on every if not most Bluetooth headset. It's a limitation due to Bluetooth 3-4.0 technology. So disconnect or disable the "Bluetooth Microphone" and you are good to go. It won't replace your gaming headset.*Rare pop noises---This could be due to the multi-point function(With multiple devices connected but only one playing the audio). I've yet to fix this. Thankfully it only happens rarely, about once or twice a day. Its a fairly loud pop that leaves you confused for a moment. Although minor and I wasn't bothered by it, Its hard not to mentions this.*Possible Discomfort--There is a chance of accidently allowing the memory foam to apply direct pressure over your ears. Only happens if you put it on wrong. Since it stops the blood flow, your earlobe will scold you for it via pain. It happens more than it should and it is a tight fit(Not exactly tight but just no extra room, unlike some other giant over the ear headsets.)There are some places where this pair just nails it:*Audio Quality++++There isn't much to it. Those are 40mm drivers responding from 20-20,000hz. Good luck finding a pair of wireless headset that has a better quality without breaking the bank.*Rediculous range.+++I almost had coverage outside of my house. I have an Intel AC 7265 Wifi/ Bluetooth 4.0 transceiver. Remember, no electromagnetic device will work through a Friday's cage. So don't lock yourself in a metal room from the transmitter and you'll be fine.*Battery Life++About a day of non-stop use. Charge at night. Don't worry about its batteries and blame yourself for forgetting to charge it two days in a roll.*Loud, very loud.+Be careful on max volume. Should get your ears checked out if you can't hear it at max. 36% Is where I am at right now.Summary and verdict:This pair didn't replace my expensive balanced armatures. There was a difference. It misses the higher frequency details from armatures and won't hit as hard as better dynamic drivers found from other headsets. However, I gave this pair a chance. After two days, these are fine. As a headset, these aren't the best. But the sheer luxury of walking around free from a wired mess, paired with acceptable quality, is something else entirely.

If You Own The TaoTronicsTransmitter/ Receiver But These!!!
This is the first pair of bluetooth headphones that I have ever purchased, as a reformed audiophile, meaning; I now look for the best bang for the buck performance in any and all future purchases, I was more that pleasantly surprised by their performance. A lot of the reviews that I was influenced by are spot on, so I feel no need to go into a long winded review of them. I have noticed that after around 20 hours of break in time that the overall sound quality improved tremendously. The mid-range really opened up after burn in and the lows also improved. Highs were spot on right out of the box but I noticed the sibilance I heard out of the box, with the high end was gone after burn in. I hooked them up to a adapter on my Yamaha receiver through the 3.5 mm cord that MEE supplies and while at work for a week played 8 hours each of rock, jazz, classical and talk radio through them Monday to Thursday. I then listened to the same artists, Stacey Kent, Nat King Cole, Basia, Elton John, Diana Krall, Frank Sinatra, as well as the Copeland and Debussy I always use for the wide and differing dynamic range from high to low that these recordings hold. I use, as you should, songs that you are very familiar with whenever you are buying new speakers, inner ear monitors or headphones. I'll admit that it gets a tad repetitive but sonically speaking, familiarity breeds contentment. I also listened to excerpts from 2 action movies and a new live album from 1958 of Count Basie and His Atomic band that I just purchased on Amazon and it blew my socks off. I would have given these phones 5 stars but there are some issues. They are very comfortable but if used for more that 2 to three hours, there are some ear heat issues and I find myself having to adjust them forwards or backwards on my ears to alleviate that. They paired easily with my Kindle, computer and portable playersbut as other reviewers have noted, they sound better wired than wireless to the aforementioned devices. However, the main reason I bought them was to use them with the TaoTronics bluetooth transmitter purchased at the same time, the review of which I will write immediately after this one. I just watched Arrival on Amazon Video and I was shocked at the dynamic range of this combo. With my ROKU or while playing a blue ray I have to crank the volume level up to 45 or 50, with the TaoTronic and the MEE Matrix3's I can barely raise it above 20! Iron Fist on Netflix, Dr. Strange on Amazon, and an all the anime I'm hooked on sounded insanely good. The clarity and detail is stunning, background ambiance like footsteps, off camera dialogue, rain wind or thunder had me looking over my shoulder more than once. If you use phones due to cutting neighbors slack, or late night listening this combination cannot be beat. I give these phones 5 stars if coupled with an amp the bluetooth receiver is hooked to while you're watching movies or streaming. Spouse friendly and dynamically ass kicking for late night viewing, this combo is very highly recommended! These are really good phones for the price and they perform way above the 68 bucks I paid for them, make sure they are FULLY charged before any initial pairing or use, unless you are using them wired.

and these are very nice headphones as well
I was a big fan of the Matrix2 headphones, and these are very nice headphones as well. At first I thought the bass was a bit low, but after comparing it to others (cheaper, but similar price range), I like the sound of these better. They are capable of doing high bass if pushed to it by messing with EQ, but they don't over-amplify the bass by default to compensate/mask for other shortcomings as may be the case with some other headphones. Also, it doesn't say this on the package, but I'm quite sure they function as aptX low-latency if your bluetooth transmitter also has this function. Further, if you insert a Aux cord with an inline mic, you can use it as a mic+headset (I think. I didn't fully test this yet, and will update this later if wrong.)Bonus, the memory foam pads are pretty comfortable, and do a good job of blocking out external sounds. Fair warning: I'm not the toughest critic in the world, although I can be pretty picky when it comes to audio quality. Anyway, they suit my needs just fine and have more features than expected.

Broke after a month
Had a lot of trouble with support, they just ignored me until I just filed a refund with Amazon which returned my money. Shame that it just snapped, no abnormal usage and was pretty light
