I have several of the standard non controllable heat mats that work, but they only heat to about 6-8° over ambient temp. I got these specifically for cactus seedlings and they work well. I’m able to set a temp well above ambient and they’ll reach and maintain that temp giving me faster seedling growth rate and excellent germination rates. The controller makes it nice that you can plug it in with the light timer and have the heat off at night once seedlings get a bit older to produce a more natural day/night temp swing, this makes cacti seedling more hardy. I do several thousand cacti seedling in fall so they can stay in the germination tents over winter before I need the tents for spring veggies and these mats give me great results. The Ferocactus wislizeni seedlings in the included picture are 28 days from seed sowing date and are 2x the size they’d be with the old heat mats, they are pencil eraser size at less than a month from sowing. I’ll be buying a few more of these before long to replace the old style mats.

This combo works really well. The Mars Hydro heat mat has a really nice even Heating to all areas of the mat. The digital temperature of thermostat Works excellent I'm pretty sure this is the ink bird brand. Was able to sprout some peppers, herbs, and tomato seeds in about a week using this setup Works excellent very happy.

Price dropped 1 dollar making this an even better value. Simple to remember how to change settings (don't need to save the manual) Temperature in my growing chamber stays steady through normal room temp fluctuations. Note though that this mat is not intended to create a large rise in temperature. I use in a 68 to 72 degree room to raise temperature in my bin to 77 degrees or so. This heating mat, temperature sensor and thermostat work okay. It doesn’t seem to be able to get up to the temperature I want, but it does work in the lower range.

This actually came free with my order. Super easy to use! Works as it should. I can definitely tell a difference using it. My babies are thriving! They popped out the soil a lot quicker too. This mat is a win win for me! I used it on 5 gallon fabric pots first. Using now on solo cups but I'm sure the results will be the same.

It works just like they said it would, nothing difficult about using it.

Honestly at first I was just surprised by how nice the texture felt on the heat mat ! I’ve bought a lot of heat mat trough out my life (I own reptiles lol) and this one came with no wrinkles or creases. I absolutely love the fact you can set the temperature and it comes with everything in this nice Mars Hydro string backpack style bag. By the way all the seedlings up there where started with this heat mat I just through it under the tray and the Popped up in no time !

The controller is a bit large for the setup.. Not sure how long it will last or how efficient it is.. time will tell.

over a year and it's still going strong,, a really nice tool if you live in a colder area. the sensor can also be used as a thermometer in a dwc res for example without the mat plugged in .

This was my first heat mat and it worked like a charm. The thermostat is great, as it only runs when needed, saving on the power bill. Water resistant and comes with a nice pouch to store everything between germinations. Plug and play easy setup.
