Permatex 22071 Water Pump and Thermostat RTV Silicone Gasket, 0.5 oz.

With two kids and one old SUV, I grabbed this for a small coolant leak around the water pump and thermostat housing. The tube is tiny but it goes a long way. I cleaned the surfaces, laid a thin bead, waited a bit, then bolted everything back together. No more drip on the driveway. that alone made me pretty glad i bought it. Engine’s been running cool on a couple of weekend grocery runs and a longer soccer practice run across town. It’s nice having this in the garage now for little fixes instead of paying a shop right away.

Worked fine to seal a thermostat housing gasket on my 1995 Mercury Sable, no leaks at all.

Getting tired of wiping coolant off the garage floor after night shift finally pushed me to grab this. I used it on my old Civic’s thermostat housing that kept seeping. The tube is tiny but for a one‑time repair it’s fine. I squeezed a thin bead, waited for it to skin, then bolted everything back and drove to work. No more little green puddle when I got home, which was nice. The smell is pretty strong though and the nozzle clogs if I don’t cap it tight, so it’s annoying for touch‑ups. Still, it saved me from tearing things apart twice.

Worked great. Used it when installing a new water pump onto a 1948 Willys. Had a little bit leftover after putting it on both sides of the water pump gasket and on the threads of all the bolts.

If your a mechanic you know that most water pump failures come from a leaking gasket and many water pump kits come with terrible paper gaskets you have to fight to get centered when putting them on (early 2000s mercury mountaineers come with like 14 bolts). Take out two birds with one stone. Small bead of this--bloop, paper gasket on--pat and bolts in. No more dreaded leaks and replacing aftermarket pumps 3 times in the span of a couple years and no dreaded headache installing a simple water pump. Get your shop to buy a tube of this every waterpump replacement, put it on parts for the customer and your doing them a service.

Left a drop on paper to see how long it takes to vulcanize at room temperature. It has been 18 hrs and this stuff (whatever it is) is still greasy and sticks to fingers ! This is not not I wanted. Very bad product. I need the seller intervention to verify what he has given me is genuine from USA OR a rejected item.
