Q: What kind of seeds work? if i use black oil sunflower seeds they can only eat on the bottom. why is it mesh? regular seeds will fall through the mesh.

We put a mix of sunflower seeds and nuts. They eat it out of the mesh just fine.

Q: Can it be mounted on a pole

There is no screw adoption on the bottom of the birdfeeder to screw a pole. However, there is a hole in the bottom where if you have a pole they can attach with a screw, you can probably use that with his birdfeeder

Q: Can cardinals eat comfortably at this feeder?

The cardinals is often visited in my yard. It’s made of full iron material, great bird feeder.

Q: Is the size of the mesh openings large enough for a shelled peanut piece to fit through?

The peanuts can be had by the birds on the lower tray of the birdfeeder. As far as going through the circular mesh, the pieces will have to be rather small.
