Sweet, Sweet Success! 2004 Ford F150 5.4L FX4
The ONLY place I can find a key fob built into the key for my vehicle, a 2004 Ford F150 5.4L FX4, is here on Amazon. However, the local hardware stores, big box stores and locksmiths refuse to cut keys purchased on Amazon. It doesnโt matter if you absolve them from all liability and offer to pay handsomely for their cutting services โ they just refuse to work with you! I resolved not to give up on getting these keys cut after speaking to a particularly rude & dismissive locksmith! Cutting keys is actually quite easy if you have access to a key cutting machine. I learned to use one at the age of 17 when I worked in the maintenance department of a hotel โ itโs not rocket science by any means! So, I purchased this Anrain Duplicating Machine, which is similar to many cheaper cutting machines on Amazon (but looked to have a nicer lightbulb setup). Then I waited for it to arrive. I wasted no time in cutting these fob keys that had worked on my previous truck of the same make & model. The cutter worked flawlessly, and the keys fit just fine. However, much to my dismay, I couldnโt successfully program the keys to work with Fordโs SecuriLock system โ the engine wouldnโt start. The process to program the security chip isnโt difficult and is readily available in the ownerโs manual or online. Plus, I had successfully done it before. I donโt know why the fob keys I used before didnโt work this time, but I sent them back for a refund. Having already incurred the sunk cost of the key cutting machine, I decided to try a different set of fob keys; these fob keys in fact. Iโm sure glad I did! These keys are superior to the previous keys I tried. Most importantly, they were easy to program and were completely compatible with Fordโs SecuriLock system. However, they are also longer than the original Ford key (and previous fob keys), so they donโt rub on the ignition despite being bulkier. I also prefer the tactile feel of the rubberized buttons on these fob keys. So, for about the cost of one key and (separate) fob from the dealer, I now own these two combination fob keys and a key cutting machine! Sweet, sweet success!

Work Perfectly for My 2014 F-150
These keys were easy to program after first having them cut. To program the immobilizer function, you need both the original keys and just follow the steps in your manual or on Youtube. Programming the fob buttons is a separate step, usually by cycling the ignition 8x and then pressing a button on all the fobs to be programmed. Again, these steps can be found on Youtube. Just make sure the vehicle is unlocked or it won't go into fob programming mode. I have no idea what the durability will be, but having a couple of backup keys provides peace of mind. For me, these keys represent a solid option without having to go to a dealer or locksmith.

Best inexpensive replacement available
Had a local hardware store cut the key. Easy to program and works perfectly. The only thing noticeable difference is the Ford logo is not on the back.

At least they where cutable and turn the car on after programming
I have a for 2014 flex. Was able to cut and program them and that part works and the car starts. But the keyless entry part is very glitchy and some times doesn't work, And if the key isn't used for a while it will lose the programming for keyless entry. The part where you press the button is all one piece so it's easy to hit wrong buttons. In 10 years I probably set off the panic button less then 5 times. With this I've set it off 5 times this week.

Works
Works on Ford Explorer 2014 ๐ช. Get the key cut at ace hardware store or anywhere else they want to help you out. It will probably take some time to find somebody who wants to help you... Once that's done, put your first key into the ignition and turn to the RUN position until you hear the beep. Do not start the car. Now take the first key out and do the same with your second key. Now take the second key out, and put your new key into the ignition and turn it again to the RUN position and wait until the doors open and close. Your car will now allow you to start the engine with your new key. Finally you need to program the remote of your new key by first switching of all accessories in your car, like lights, AC and radio, don't put your foot on the brake and put you car in park. Now turn the key EIGHT times from off to RUN in under 10 seconds. Your doors will open and close again. Now sequentially push all three buttons on your new remote, so your car will recognize the radio signals of your new remote.

2 in 1 fob and Key!
When it came time to replace my cracked 2009 Ford F150 keychain fob, I went for these all-in-one key fobs. I liked that they are sold as a set of 2. Here's what you need to know- If your truck has a security feature, you will need at least 1 working key chain fob and 2 working ignition keys to program these, or they wont start your truck. What I did.... First, I found on YouTube a video showing how to program Ford F150 keychain fobs. The steps are easy to follow and do, only all your fobs need to be programed together/at same time. I programed these 2 key fobs and 2 new keychain fobs, also purchased, using the one old working cracked keychain fob I was replacing. The programing proceedure involves turning your ignition key on and off a certain number of times, then pushing buttons on all your new fobs, within a certain period of time. The full process to program my 4 new fobs took less than a minute, and they all worked. Next I took the 2 Key fobs to a local Locksmith, to have the keys cut. Back home, I discovered the new keys unlocked/locked the doors manually and that the fobs worked, but the keys would not start the engine! My truck has a Securi-Lock system, to help prevent theft. At that point I wondered if I had wasted my time and money with these keys? I had no idea that my thin plastic covered Ford ignition keys, have some sort of chip within. So I checked in my owners manual and found a section on how to program new ignition keys. Again, rather simple steps to do, and by using my 2 existing ignition keys, successfully programed the new fob keys one at a time, to start my engine! So with these fob keys, first one must program the fob portion and then program the ignition key. The simple steps for both procedures can be found online/in your manual. If you do not have 2 original ignition keys used for programing new keys, you will have to go to a Ford dealer/Locksmith. Before, my keychains held both a fob and an ignition key and now only 1 fob key combo. I prefer that, as there is 1 thing less on my chains and I don't have to fumble for first a fob and then a key to unlock and start my truck. I will be hiding 1 of my original keys outside on the truck for emergency use. I highly recommend these key fob combos.

Key works, buttons do not
Took the keys to my local locksmith and had them cut and the ignition programmed. They work great for that, but the buttons will absolutely not work despite being programmed via the traditional method. It's a possibility with a professional computer module, they might be able to be programmed, but I can't see them working for the keyless entry. They look nice, and we're a reasonable price. Works for ignition only for 2009 explorer Eddie Bauer edition.

Great workmanship, easy to program.
Excellent workmanship. They are slightly thicker actually feel a bit more solid than the OEM keys. I like that that the battery slips into a holder on the internal PCB board to make better contact with the batteryโs top and bottom surfaces, as opposed to others that rely on the pressure from the clamshell of the fob making the contact. This always fails as the key gets older. Since I still have both of my original keys, programming was easy following the instructions in the Ford User Manual, and I did not need a locksmith to cut the keys or program it. My local Ace Hardware cuts the keys for just a few bucks. Hopefully this will be the last set of keys I will need for this vehicle.
