What an entertaining read! I finished this book in one go on a flight from London to NYC.I would strongly recommend this for anyone who has any interest in the entertainment industry.....and for anyone who doesn't. Well written and amusing, Angie has a lovely way of telling her story, which kept me turning the pages non stop.It's a positive and up lifting book, just the perfect read for these times.

My daughters has always been known as 'Wiggy' foreshortened to 'Wigs'. This book is her biography.

Angela Cobbin has spent most of her working life making wigs for theatre, opera and television. I had never given this aspect of the entertainment industry much attention but having read this book, I often find myself peering more closely at the actor's head. I can never tell whether they're wigs or natural.In this delightful, heart-warming book, Angela reveals much about the world above the eyebrows and her role in making wigs and fitting them, often with only seconds to do so. She has made wigs for so many famous names I lost count. Most were real people, some were models in Madame Tussauds, others were puppets of Spitting Image.Her story is told with zest, good humour and modesty. I know Angela personally and reading the book felt like she was sitting beside me, regaling me with anecdotes. If you want to know more about a fascinating backstage part of the entertainment industry you should buy this wonderful account. It's perfect for holiday reads and as a gift for anyone who has a love of theatre, film or opera.

Great - factual book.

As a lover of all things hair and theatre, this was right up my street and a delight to read. Angela is quite humble in her storytelling and almost comes across embarrassed to name drop and names there are a-plenty,I have to be honest that I didn't quite realise the detail and thought and precision that goes into a wig, and stupidly thought a lot of actors hair was just restyled.Having worked with Michael Bogdanov myself, it was a real pleasure to read that section. And living close to Swansea with a Dylan Thomas obsession (which is why I worked with Michael) it was great to see a wig for him as well. The Pavarotti story is simply sublime.The pictures in the book really enhance the story and also really show how diverse Angela has been. The musical stories were also fabulous.This sparkles in show business star dust.

The world of theatre is fascinating but the focus always tends to be on the actors, the writers, the composers or the directors. Very little light is shone on those that really make a show work. Those who work behind the scenes. In her fascinating memoir My Name is Not Wigs, Angela Cobbin reveals the ins and outs of the wig department in some of our best loved shows.Angela’s autobiography takes you from her humble beginnings of training in a hair salon to becoming a celebrated and sought after wig artist across the world and media platforms. Her diligence and dedication to her craft leap off every page.The lovely thing about My Name is Not Wigs is that it doesn’t feel too heavy on the craft. Whilst we can tell Angela Cobbin is good at what she does and she does bring in technical detail into her narrative we are not bogged down with information that we can’t understand. It is actually quite the opposite. We are told in a way that does make the world od wig-making seem understandable.However, my favourite thing about My Name is Not Wigs was that it felt conversational. It felt like I had sat down with a friend I hadn’t seen for a while and was enjoying a catch up with her. Angela Cobbin’s writing makes you feel like you are privy to her world because you already have an established relationship. Angela Cobbins has had a remarkable career as a wig maker and hair stylist to many of theatre's major artists and productions. Her recollections of the stars and sometimes harrowing situations attendant to major productions takes the reader on an enjoyable journey, most often backstage.

I enjoyed reading about her life making styling wigs. Really an interesting journey, and a pleasure to read.
