COMPLETE WORKS OF SAKI Paperback – 1 January 2012

I remember reading The Open Window as part of my school curriculum and Tobermory in a collection of short stories and the two stories have stuck in my mind ever since. So when I saw this collection with a new cover available on sale, it was a no-brainer. Saki aka HHM is a master of satirical humour. If you like his stories then this is a good copy. If you haven't read him as yet, again, a complete collection is a good idea because once you start, you'll want to read more.

Not sure if this is an original book given the quality of the book and the print. May have been sitting in the shelves for far too long.

An excellent collection of the stories written by H H Munro, who wrote under the pseudonym: Saki.

Good quality book at a reasonable rate.

The cover design is beautiful. The collection itself is a must read for short story lovers. The quality of pages can be improved, like needs to be way better. I am still confused if it is an original or a duplicate one. The publisher's other books have excellent quality.

A book dealing with the idle rich non working class of England. Reminiscent of p. G. Wodehouse but not as good.

I have loved Saki since I discovered him several years ago .He is an ideal companion for a dismal ,rainy afternoon or to sooth you to sleep after a difficult day .His humor is satirical ,pithy and sometimes dark. But he never fails to transport you to a strange ,amusing and somehow reassuring world ,populated by slightly bizarre yet engaging characters .He is an oddly well kept literary secret and i'm delighted to find a full collection of his work at such a tiny price .

Ammetto che sapevo molto poco della letteratura inglese anni '30. Questi di Munro (Saki) sono per lo più racconti brevi, raffinati e fulminanti come epigrammi alessandrini. Mi ci sono imbattuta per caso, ma li ho molto apprezzati.

短編なので、どこからでも気軽に読めます。クローヴィスが出てくる話が大抵くだらなくて（褒め言葉）面白いです。オチでにやっと笑えるものと、終わりが少し怖いもの（ゲイブリエル・アーネストやローラなど）がありますが、大体はにやっと笑えます。日本語訳の本をお持ちで一度読んでいたらもっと楽しいと思います。（日本語訳のタイトルも原題とかけ離れていないので照らし合わせやすいです。）私はこのペンギン版で購入したのですが、ワーズワース版でもよかったかな、と思いました。ペンギンと何が違うかちゃんと見くらべていないのですが、目次で見る限り作品の収録数も結構あるし、なにより廉価です。５分の１くらい違いますね。ペンギン版は作りもしっかりしているし装丁も奇麗だし満足ですが、それが心残りかな。
