what is the difference between Goddards Long Term Silver Pad foaming silver polish and Goddard's Long Shine Silver Foam

The long term silver pad foaming silver polish is a clayish type subtance that comes with a pad to softly scrub silver with.  A excellent product that gives a longer lasting shine.  The foam is a quick fix cleaner, dip & rinse but does not last as long.  I use this on items like braclets & chains.

Has anyone used this on sterling silver jewelry? What were the results and did it work on intricate details, such as crevices & hard to reach areas?

This is fine on any kind of silver.  And Goddards also makes a liquid that is meant to clean fork tines.  However, it can also be useful for dipping intricate pieces of jewelry into the container.  Magic.  A product that is superb for cleaning dirty silver and any kind of gold or silver jewelry is WENOL.  Every home, in my opinion, should have a tube of this product on hand.  Good luck.

Is it safe to use on opals and turquoise sterling silver rings?

I would be very careful to keep any cleaning agent away,especially opal since it has some texture it may damage it. I would suggest covering stone in scotch tape before cleaning and be very careful. Also there are websites that catorgarize gem hardness which could help you determines susceptibility of your particular stone. Hope I helped?

I have not used it on other metals (such as brass).  Google Goddards and ask their customer service people.  They are very helpful - and may have another product that is just what you need.  Everything of theirs that I have used has been great.  Their marble cleaner did a spectacular job, for example.
