Slight damage in shipping, but very sturdy anyway. This is very good quality for the price.
This is a very sturdy piece of exercise equipment. There was some damage to the main plastic housing in shipping which cracked a bolt but everything still holds together just fine. I don't think it is worth sending back at this point as everything works fine and the damage is only noticeable if you know where to look.I don't agree with some of the other reviews that the resistance is too low for an average male. If you are extremely fit or only want to row for 5 minutes or less I could see the resistance being on the low side. For an average to moderately fit person maintaining proper form (particularly a good finish) the resistance at higher settings should be more than enough for a 15-25 minute workout. The only potential fault I could find with the machine is the track length. I am only 5'7" (~170 cm) so it isn't a problem for me personally but I use a good portion of the track. I think if you are a tall person, maybe 6'2"(~188 cm) or taller, this would definitely be an issue.

Overall Good Value
Pretty Good overall. The unit is solid and feels well designed. The unit assembles easily enough, they provide decent assembly instructions. I was a little dismayed at first, one of the sub-assemblies was actually missing - specifically, the arm the foot pads attach to wasn't present in the box. The good news is that their customer service was excellent - a real person answered the phone, I told them the part that was missing (using the part numbers from the instructions). He knew exactly what I was talking about, and had an order confirmation for shipping me the part in my inbox inside an hour. A little bonus was that Amazon had registered my customer details into the Xterra Fitness system - my warranty was already in place. The unit rows smoothly, and its pretty quiet. I work out in the morning, in the basement, before my wife wakes up. She says she cant hear a thing, sleeps right thru my workout. I cant complain about the motion - its not as seamless as a higher dollar rower, but its definitely a good fluid motion overall. My only real gripes (which are covered in other reviews) is that 1. the resistance is a bit low, even at the highest setting. It takes me a good 10 minutes to break a sweat. Maybe 20+ min before Im hitting a real burn. But, Im 6'1, and primarily lift weights, so I probably generate a bit more force than the average user. All in all, a rower is for cardio, not strength training - so I suppose Im getting picky. Gripe 2 is the computer. I wish it was able to calculate distance. It shows strokes, time, and a generic calorie counter. I kinda wish it was able to do distance too, as I dont think it calculates the calories piece accurately - the numbers seem very optimistic in my experience. Again, Im probably being picky since time under tension/elevated hearbeat is probably more important than distance anyway. More resistance and a better computer would get it to 5 stars. For a budget rower, it does exactly what it says it does, which is nice. Whats more important is that for a budget rower, the construction is probably better than I expected.

This make exercise fun (did I just say fun)
I have been using the rower since mid March. Very Easy to put together, ( no special knowledge needed). Took me about ten minutes. Took longer to get it out of all the packaging, and retaining straps. The machine is easy to use, and very quiet. Smooth running and a pleasure to use. The computer it very simple, and easy to set you time to count down. It sits in the corner of my home office always reminding me it is there and needs to be used. Iit is a very compact unit, and when folded up it does not take up much floor space. I do fold it away after use, it is also a very good looking machine, and it not an eye sore in my office. I keep the seat rails lightly lubed with petroleum jelly, it makes for a smoother glide across the rails.

Good value for money
I've been using this for a month now and it gives me a good workout and zero problems. I got it on sale and this was an incredible value for money - this thing's weight in metal alone had to be worth what i paid for it. I use it with apple fitness+ rowing classes and makes for a good combo. The biggest downside is the data screen looks like a digital clock from 1985, but if you have a smart watch you'll already know how you are burning calories and you can copy the rowing rythym of a virtual instructor.

Assembly Instructions?? Or lack of!!
Update since assembling. The instructions needs to be better because assembly isn't complicated. For the price, the machine seems fine. You get what you pay for. The foot pads are cheap, the monitor is cheap but the rail and seat seems solid. However, I am worried about the belt. It seems thin and britle. I wish I had opted for another option with a local dealer.I have had this two weeks, now I have put entertainment centers together, I am not scared to assemble things WITH DIRECTIONS. This might be a good sturdy machine once I get it together! The screws nuts bolts stuff, labeled but could have been labeled more simplistically. And it tells you what order to assemble, steps, BUT I do not know if the front bar, what is up or down or where the spring washer verses the curved washer goes! It does not tell you. This is stupid! Hopefully I can find a youtube video!

It's a good workout. I mix the workout up a little ...
I waited a little to write this review. After using this rower for a little while, I can say this rower is everything that I wanted. It's a good workout. I mix the workout up a little with a little time on the rower and a little time on my treadmill. The company delivered it really fast and it was easy to assemble. For the best workout, i suggest watching a video (you tube) for the correct way to use a rower. You get the best workout that way, at least for me.

Functional with slight defect.
The two front parts of the machine was dislodged, had to hammer the joint together, there is still a slight crack in-between, but overall machine does what its suppose to, one of the best decision i made for the betterment of health.
