Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt: The Complete Series [Blu-ray]

Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt has got to be my favourite anime. The show is about two angels who got kicked out of heaven for bad behaviour. The only way to return is to collect Heaven coins, which can only be accumulated by killing Ghosts. It's an hilarious, vulgar, bizarre and overall enjoyable show. It has a great stylized look mimicking American cartoons, which makes the show more enjoyable with the mixed styles. The mix of styles make for a fresh and unique anime. The humor is very vulgar, similar to the humor of Drawn Together, which was an influence for the show. The show also has one of the best soundtracks I have heard, which consist of Electronic and Dance songs. I was excited to hear a English DVD realise of this show for the UK. The DVD features two languages, a English Dub which from looking at previews, looks to be done really well and the original Japanese Dub. I think most fans are going to prefer the Japanese as opposed to the English as it features some great voices that stand out. The Japanese Dub will have some English speaking parts which make it even more hilarious. The DVD doesn't seem to include anything new feature apart from Outtakes. The special disc includes a collection of the 'Ghost' explosions (which is a re-occurring feature in the show) the OVA's (Mini-shorts) and textless opening and closing songs. I'd recommend this show to fans who like 'adult' cartoons such as Drawn Together or South Park who like rude and ridiculous jokes.

First and most importantly, the reported issues with the endings cutting off the last few episodes has been sorted, so you can all rest assured that you can enjoy your anime safe in the knowledge taht it won't cut out on you. The show itself was made by the same people as gurren lagann, and came up with it in the pub one night for a laugh. The end result is a beautiful blending of animation, humour, music and ridiculous action sequences. The characters are all VERY different, makin for great viewing, the voice acting is perfect, and you'll find yourself loving the characters in this anime before the first episode is even over. The show's plot, while originally non existant becomes more and more important, and actually holds together well, making for a genuinely exciting last few episodes, whic I was not expecting at all. Basically, this is the Marmite of anime, you'll love it, or you'll hate it. If you love foul language and bodily fluids, then this is the anime for you!

Definitely a classic I've loved the series since 2013 (late to the party I know) but it's worth the price for both Blu-ray and DVD combo it still holds up and definitely better than season 2 which took 15 years to come out

This was a good deal as it came with two blue ray discs and 3 dvds. Unfortunately, Japanese track is only 2.1 when compared to 5.1 for the English track. Also, most of the special features are for the English dub team and only a few for the Japanese production team. Other than that, this blu-ray set is a fun ride if you can take all the profanity.

Love the show and am writing this brief review assuming people have either seen the Japanese version or at least know of it. In terms of the English adaptation, it's pretty much perfect (as a personal note it took me a long time to warm to Stocking's new squeakyer voice and the daemon twins didn't roll the R on RRRRRULES! but were otherwise brilliant). All the music in intact and it looks beautiful etc etc. Basically a good adaptation. HOWEVER! My warning to anyone looking to buy this is that the last few episodes (the whole of disk 3, maybe a couple of episodes before that, I can't remember to be honest) have the last few seconds of the episodes abruptly cut off. This results in them missing the ending credits entirely and generally the last couple of sentences of dialogue (often the episodes punchline etc) and the final episode is missing the "true ending" after the credits which...well that's pretty lame. So, for the most part this was what the fans were waiting for, sadly it missed perfection due to technical issues that really should have been caught before release.

Words can barely describe the madness going on here. Fallen angels using their lingerie as gun and swords to fight evil ghosts is crazy enough and that's just the outline. It's filled with raunchy over-the-top humor, tons of references (like Ace Attorney and Ren and Stimpy, and that's only one episode) and some unexpectedly well made action scenes. Though it's an anime, it's kind of parodying western animation. The animation is good, the original voice acting well made and every character has his own, very distinctive voice, so from a technical standpoint, there's nothing to complain. Though it's only recommended for people who don't mind the raunchy humor and a good dose of randomness. Word's can only tell so much and the only way to really make sure Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt is for you is to just watch it. It's definately something else.

This anime is absolutely amazing, and don't listen to the reviews that suggest it shouldn't be bought because it's missing the last seconds of the final episodes are missing: this issue has been since fixed by GAINAX, and all defective copies have been retired from the market. If you purchase it, it will be the fixed version for sure. As for the anime, it's the best series I've ever seen. The characters are fantastic and the dirty humor is used well, it never becomes excessive. I love Panty & Stocking, and being able to see their adventures in high quality isn't a chance that anyone should miss. Buy it, watch it, and you won't regret it!

The content: This is one of the best animes I've seen, it's genuinely funny and I can't believe it has taken me this long to discover it. Don't be put of by the name, it's not THAT kind of anime. The product: DVD worked as expected, seems to be new and genuine. Excellent, timely delivery.

This anime is done like western cartoons, no real story arc throughout the series like most anime. Just episodic stories, each episode being comprised of two stories. There are a few exceptions to this. It's meant to be a lot like western cartoons. It's vulgar, sexual and hilarious. In my opinion anyway. It probably won't be for everyone. FUNimation did a great job with the dub, you can go on their youtube channel to see some previews of the series to see if it's your taste. The series doesn't take itself very serious, which is why I love it. The art design is awesome, though it shifts styles quite a bit. Which is either hit or miss for people. I like it. The only issues I have are that it ended the way it did and certain sections where you can tell the animation budget was low. Usually, in anime, that doesn't bother me. It actually adds a lot of charm to what's going on. But in a few parts, it's just is a bit weird.

WICHTIGE VORBEMERKUNG: Diese Rezension bezieht sich auf den UK-Import einer DVD-Sammlung! D. h. die Discs sind mit einem Ländercode versehen und können nicht von allen DVD- oder sonstigen Playern abgespielt werden! Ob euer Player die DVDs stemmen kann, verrät euch zumeist die Recherche auf einer beliebten Internet-Suchmaschine oder der Hersteller selbst. Ich selbst spiele die Discs über meine, in Deutschland erworbene Xbox-One-X ab, die mit dem Abspielen von UK-DVDs keinerlei Probleme hat. Rezension: Ich persönlich bin von der DVD-Sammlung (UK-Import) absolut überzeugt! Das Beste ist, dass die Sammlung wirklich den kompletten Anime, sprich die erste und (leider) einzige Staffel umfasst. Dass es sich bei der DVD (eigentlich 3) um ein Rip-Off bzw. um ohne Zustimmung der Produzenten angefertigte Discs handelt, kann ich nicht bestätigen: Im Vergleich zu den auf YT hochgeladenen Original-Folgen ergeben sich zu denen auf den DVDs enthaltenen keinerlei Unterschiede - weder im Intro noch sonst wo. Auch ist das Bild einer DVD entsprechend scharf und es ist sowohl die japanische als auch eine englische Tonspur enthalten. Davon abgesehen enthalten die Discs teils umfangreiches Bonusmaterial (also wenn Jemand schon immer einer Hand voll Japanern 40 Minuten bei der Sprengung verschiedener Papp-Geister-Figuren zusehen wollte - here you go!). Insofern kann ich mich der Kritik einiger meiner Vorredner (m/w/d) nicht anschließen: Die DVD-Sammlung erscheint genuin, sie ist umfangreich, komplett und ordentlich verarbeitet bzw. ausgeführt. Ich kann den UK-Import dieser Anime-Perle daher nur wärmstens empfehlen!
