Frogs have been stolen, an earthquake rumbles, a village is in peril. To restore calm to her land, a girl must delve beneath the surface of a lake, deep into a spirit world. What she finds will thrill readers and introduce them to a classic hero's journey. Review: Inspiring Book for All, esp Girls - Magnificent book to inspire children, especially girls. Outstanding art work that builds on the painted, technically accurate, picture from the artist/author. Brilliant colors and pictures are technically perfect; I am from the Pacific NW and they brought home to beauty. Review: Great story beautifully illustrated. - Lovely. I got this to read to my daughter after getting Storm Boy as a gift. My husband and I are very interested in Northwest native art and culture, so this is a wonderful experience for our child and us during our bedtime ritual. The story is very cool and deep. The accompanying illustrations are also rich and accurate, adding so much depth throughout.

Great Story With a Great Hero
This was a gift for my 7 year old granddaughter. She loved the book. Her parents were delighted that the hero of the story was an authentic hero and a girl. I definitely recommend this story for young boys and girls who rarely see well written stories with girls as genuine heroes.

Aesthetically pleasing
Short read, great aesthetic and I finally completed my collection. Got Storm Boy a decade ago in 4th grade.

Gorgeous Book, kids and adults are bound to love it
We ran across this at our local natural history museum (Fernbank). My 5 and 7 year old were mesmerized by it. I've now read it (and brother book Storm Boy) dozens of times and the beautiful illustrations and poetic story-telling still have an emotional impact. Highly recommended. DMS

Gorgeous illustrations.
This was as an engaging Native American tale that teaches children respect for the world around them. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous. I'm looking forward to reading Lewis' other work as well.

Wonderful story - perfect for children
I bought this book after first reading a library version to my 5 year old daughter. We have re-read it countless times. Living on the west coast I think enhances the reading as she can relate to the images of forest and rain. She is absolutely captivated and immersed in the story. I believe this woudl be good for any child of varying ages.

Wonderful illustrations and great for encouraging independent reading
Paul Owen Lewis is a wonderful children's writer and I can't understand why his books are so hard to get hold of. Such a beautiful book, full of dramatic illustrations that feel very modern despite it not being a new book. A unique story that introduces all sorts of themes - American Indian culture and art, ecology and friendship. But none of it is handled in a worthy way - it's exciting and fun to read. Frof Girl makes a great pair with Storm Boy, and it's nice to have an option with a female lead. Some of the frog illustrations feel quite surreal and a little dark, but my son loved that. My 6 year old son is dyslexic and this was perfect for him. It was grown-up enough that he didn't feel at all patronised, but with beautiful illustrations on each page, short paragraphs and simple clear language so it's not a difficult read. He needs books that challenges him emotionally and imaginatively, but don't challenge him too much in terms of reading level. This did exactly that. It's a great one for encouraging independent reading. I'm also sure any confident reader with an interest in mythology or love of illustration would love this too.

Good story, beautiful illustrations
This is a lovely book with beautiful illustrations. I teach year 3 and I used it as an inspiration for a story telling topic based on volcanoes. The children loved it
