Will this work with stainless steel knives?

It depends on the metal composition of your knives. Pure stainless steel does not have enough iron in it to be magnetic, and would not stick to this board. I have a set of stainless steel pans that are not at all magnetic and don't work on a cook top that requires magnetism. Most knives contain a form of carbon steel that has a higher percentage of iron which is magnetic. I have a number of expensive and inexpensive knives that are both Asian and Euro and have had no problems with any of the staying on this board.

Does it have other wood spieces or colors abailable.

I wasn't offered any other choices when I purchased it.

No directions came with block. How do I attach the 2 pieces of wood

Line up the holes on the wood and use the provided screws to put it together (there's a video on it posted in Amazon). Took about 2 minutes.

What is the wood treated with?

The wood is stained but it does not have a lacquer on it. The magnets are on the inside of the wooden shell and cannot be seen.
