Keeps our doorway safe
Live where snow and ice are problems and there are many times someone needs to go out before you can clear the way. This keeps the surface from freezing and getting slippery. It does need a nearby outlet and draws a fair amount of power, but we only switch it on when snow or ice are expected so I think it's costing us only a few dollars a month during the iciest season. The heating element does not extend to the edges, so the outer few inches do not stay unfrozen. Not a problem, but you need to know that. Each mat requires its own receptacle, but more than one will run on a 15 amp circuit.
