Love the vacuum cleaner for its size, convenience and power. This is my third one. Unfortunately the motors only last about 8 years before they destroy themselves. Second one destroyed its motor after 8 years. I actually ordered and installed a new motor. That new motor lasted 8 years also. I have lots of extra attachments. The hose on the second one kept splitting. I kept taping it up. I finally ordered 8 feet of hose from China and replaced that. That hose is going strong and I love the extra length. They should use better quality hose and motor.

I just purchased my 3rd one of these Hoover PortaPower Lightweight Vacuums.. The first two each lasted about 10 years of hard residential household use. (e.g., I vacuum at least every week). In both cases the motors did eventfully gave out. Some folks might think 10 years isn't a very long life span for a vacuum; but I think that's pretty good, given the reasonable price and the solid quality of it's cleaning power and features. Here's the things I particularly like about this machine: consistently strong suction over its entire lifetime; so lightweight an 80+ yr. old can tote it around by it's shoulder strap; a super long electrical cord; reusable cloth filter; Easily picks up both fine dust as well as dog hair off furniture as well as floors----a lot of dog hair ! (from multiple Afghan Hounds in residence). It's a good reliable, reasonably priced machine. If I'm still alive and vacuuming in 10 yrs, I'll purchase another, should this one die before me!

DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT !!!!!!!!! I purchased this vacuum about 5 years ago and liked it so much I ordered another recently. Hoover must have changed the design on the lever that holds the main vacuum hose to the unit and the same lever is supposed to keep the bag door from opening. The new vacuum that I just received has a lever that does not perform the two functions. it either keeps the hose in place or it keeps the bag door closed. The failure of this lever to perform both functions means you need to keep a third hand available (if you have a third hand) in order to keep the vacuum together while you're vacuuming. Really bad design change. Never had this problem with the same vacuum purchased 5 years ago. Thinking this was an anomaly, I contacted Amazon and they graciously send me a replacement vacuum. I received it today and it has the same problem. The issue is not an anomaly. It seems to have been a very bad design change by Hoover. I contacted Hoover customer service and have yet to hear from them on how they plan to address this issue, or if I need to purchase another supplier's vacuum. I'll update this review once I hear from Hoover. In the meantime, stay away from this vacuum cleaner. UPDATE - Hoover did not respond to my email, so I called them and spoke to someone who simply gave me a contact for a local Hoover Warranty claims repair location. Before lugging the brand new vacuum to the repair center, I called them to describe my problem (with two brand new vacuum cleaners). I'm glad I called. The repair center stated that if I brought the new portapower vacuum to them, there is NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO FIX THE PROBLEM if that is the way the product is manufactured now by Hoover. Wow, who would have expected Hoover to assume their customers would tolerate such an inferior product.

Bought this for my fiance who has a cleaning company and she said it's the best vacuum she has ever used very light weight and powerful easy to replace filter and does the professional job

Got this as a gift for my mom who owns a cleaning business. She loves it so much she got a second one to use at home. She also loves that she can buy extra reusable filters and has ones for specific houses/jobs. Not too heavy and the handle has a good weight and feels sturdy. Also has a good reach, long enough to get in tough places. Love the attachments, multifunctional. Great value for what it is. Only improvements I’d suggest are that the shoulder strap could be a little more comfortable and the strap to hold the cord pops off a lot and could be designed better. Overall a great purchase.

This is a pretty good, portable vacuum. It's small so requires more often maintenance cleaning of head, hose and bag. I haven't used it with disposable bags but the reusable, cleanable one that it comes with seems good. You'll want access to an outdoor area to knock dust from bag after emptying contents. Does not like wood splinters.

Me encanta bien útil para el carro mejor que las de baterías pues porque no te quedas sin batería. Limpiar el carro desafortunadamente requiere más de 20 minutos porque eso duran las baterías de las portátiles y esta caray súper potente súper rápida y puede ponerle bolsita de papel que yo compré así que limpio el carro y tiro la bolsita de papel cuando se llene cosa que no ha pasado porque como es pura tierra tarda mucho y no se llena.

One of the things reviewers don't mention about this vacuum cleaner is that, because it's carried on your shoulder, it's very light and the hose stretches, you can easily clean walls, tops of pictures, bookcases, shelves, hangings, corners of ceilings, etc., etc. And the suction's great! Highly recommended...at least so far!

This little vacuum is replacing a central vac. The central vac hose would rub against baseboard and harm the paint. Always bothered me. Flooring installer mention this little machine. Decided a flooring installer would know quality in a vacuum, and he does. We use it exclusively on hardwood flooring, works great. Long and adjustable shoulder strap makes it comfortable to carry. Thirty foot cord means you’re not constantly unplugging as you go along.
