What do you do with the excess material? My railing is less then 10 feet

I used fabric scissors and cut off the excess after securing it on the last section. I didn’t have any issues with fraying.

how long are the each of the zip ties that come with it?

8" ties. I ordered the white mess, which is a much cleaner look. My railing is black & I opted out of the white ties. Bought black ties, very cheap, in 8+10". works great!

It does work for the sun and rain at the balcony all the year ?

Banister guard is very durable & stands up to all weather elements. The bright white color will fade though. After withstanding a NE winter I did purchase a new guard & placed it over the1st guard on the balcony. Got a bright white hue again & a little more privacy too.
