Animation For Beginners: Getting Started with Animation Filmmaking

This book is a great introduction into animation with a very clear overview on the current methods of achieving animation as a career.The section on creating a first film/thesis film was something I wish I had before attending college - it would have saved me so much time and money. It’s very informative without being unnecessarily wordy or dull.Often the animation books for beginners feel a bit outdated or hard to digest, but this book is very approachable. The sections are titled properly and are easy to navigate.It’s a perfect book for the beginner animator as advertised, and makes a good gift for high schoolers and college students (or recent graduates) as it has valuable information. I would recommend this book as it is easy to digest and has some interesting points for even more advanced animators- although it is predominantly a jumping off point for beginners. It also goes over 3D as well as 2D animation which makes it a huge plus for animators who want to see the differences in both.With that being said, it doesn’t offer too much new information that you cannot find elsewhere- however the fact that it is all condensed into one book makes it easier for new animators to find terminology that then can be looked up.Also the way this information is presented makes it worthwhile to have.All in all, I recommend this book for starting animators and those who are looking for a helpful guide to entering the workforce.As a fellow SVA graduate, these tips ring true to what I have experienced. :)

After a short background of the author, this book delves into Animation. The different types, the 12 principles, and how you can market your skills once you've acquired them. The author even busts some myths about animation and how it has evolved over the years. I found this to be a very informative book on the topic. My daughter will also be interested in this as she aspires to become an animator. This book is geared for beginners and it has plenty in here to throughly inform you of the topic.

Animation for Beginners: Getting Started with Animation Filmmaking by Morr Meroz is an animation graphic design and entertainment industry book. I have already recommended this book to artists I know because even though I would not necessarily say this book is super helpful for me, I think the material and knowledge of the author should not be missed by those who are looking to get into animation filmmaking. It seems great for all levels, and it gives a good breakdown of what skills are necessary in the film industry. This could be a great guide and resource for film animation artists.

I have a future animator and this book was full of great ideas and tips. He loved it. He loves to make flip books. This helped him to up his drawing game.

it show where to start and how to go about animating. No actual lessons on animation. Still a pretty good read for someone wanting to get into it though.

The book covers a wide range of topics related to animation, while remaining concise. It goes over the various types of animation films, provides insights and tips on the entire process of making an animation, from having an initial idea, to developing a story, writing a script, and eventually to production. I really liked the tips he gave regarding having a career in animation filmmaking, I haven't seen any other book which does that! I would recommend it to anyone interested in becoming an animator, even as a hobby.

To be honest, when I first bought this, I read it, then I left it there for a couple months. I actually completely forgot about it until recently, however, now that I read it again, it contains a lot of useful information, and I would recommend it to any beginner animators
