Well Worth The Money!!
We bought a Hard Copy book....don't know why it says Kindle?! Oh well....probably us clicking on something incorrectly! Anyway....read on.....Excellent!! Our little group sat down with this book not necessarily looking for "new stuff" that wasn't presented in court, but to get a feel for what was going on in Juan's mind as he sought justice for Travis while fighting the Evilness he was faced with. We will not use her name in our review. We will not give that Evilness the satisfaction of having her name in our commentary. We all saw for ourselves how this Evilness openly and shamelessly lied her way through after the killing and throughout the court proceedings. What we could not see or know was how Juan's mind was calculating her every move. The book took us into his mind as he stayed up long hours sifting through all the previous year's evidence in front of him. He worked long hours because in his heart he knew there was something there that was missing....the key to this Evil being! His attention to detail in telling this story so well had us right there in his office with him. We could feel his anxiety build as he began to see the whole story come to light in front of him in mounds of receipts and witness statements. He explains what was going through his mind as he viewed the multitude of videos and he had her pegged from the start. He knew he had to come up with a solid plan to keep her from taking control of him as well as the courtroom. In the chapters of this book you are able to see how he goes about controlling this manipulative conniving pathological liar. As you read each chapter and the intensity builds so does your anxiety levels. You feel his joy when the gas cans and their importance come to light and no one, not even the Duh-fense Team, had a clue as to their importance. We saw how the evidence surrounding the gas cans was presented in court, but what we didn't know was the long hours late into the evenings that it took to bring this information to light. Juan takes you there and walks you through step by step as he uncovered the evidence that would put this Evilness in her place....PRISON!!The only chapters we had difficulty reading through were those where she was on the stand on direct examination from Nurmi. It was just as excruciating reading as it was listening to the two of them during the trial! It brought back all those sick feelings we got while watching the trial. They are just as SICK in writing as they were live on TV! However, we could see why Juan added portions of her testimony in his book. He provided his thoughts as he analyzed her every word and expression as she sat there lying under oath. Little did she or the Duh-fense know about Juan's "Ace in the Hole" that was coming their way!!Usually at our age, reading put's us to sleep, BUT NOT THIS BOOK!! We couldn't put it down! It was so well written it's as if you're right there alongside Juan looking through all the evidence and watching him build his case. We've read some comments where it was mentioned that the reader was disappointed because they thought they were going to find out new evidence that was not presented in court, however we did not go in with those thoughts in mind. We can thoroughly understand that since her appeal is in the works Juan would never say or do anything to be the cause of a reversal. We're sure that there probably is quite a bit we will never know about, but what he did share, we are thoroughly satisfied with. What we saw in court was enough to last us a lifetime. We don't ever want to hear about this Evilness again!!Congratulations Juan Martinez! You did a fantastic job in court bringing the Evilness out into the open for all to see and then slapped her down, you got justice for Travis, and wrote a FANTASTIC book! Our money was well spent!Enjoy your reading all......we sure did!Retired Old Ladies for Juan Martinez!RIP Travis....

Travis had no intention of marrying her because of her sexual history - He wanted a nice Mormon virgin to be his future wife
A Premeditated Crime of PassionRobert G. Buice, Ph.D.Juan Martinez, Conviction – The Untold Story of Putting Jodi Arias Behind Bars, William Morrow & Co., An imprint of HarperCollins, New York (2016). [Kindle]It’s the story behind the trial many watched live on TV in 2013. Jodi Arias met Travis Alexander at a convention in Vegas – they began to see each other frequently – a sexual relationship developed – Because Travis was Mormon, he kept his pre-marital sexual activity secret – Although Jody joined the Mormon Church, Travis had no intention of marrying her because of her sexual history - He wanted a nice Mormon virgin to be his future wife, but he kept Jodi as his “dirty little secret” – Travis was still seeing several of his Mormon girlfriends – In a jealous rage, Jodi vandalized his home and slashed his tires – Travis planned a trip to Cancún with a Mormon girlfriend - Then Jodi turned nice and went to see him in his Mesa, AZ home – After a day of intense sexual activity, she brutally murdered him, stabbing him 19 times, slashing his throat, and shooting him – Jodi was arrested – She first claimed she was not anywhere near Mesa – After being caught in that lie, Jodi claimed that two intruders entered the house and killed Travis, but she escaped – Once more caught in a lie, she claimed that Travis attacked her and she killed him in self defense – Here series of lies was mind blowing – Jodi was convicted of first degree murder and of murder with special circumstances, opening the way to the death penalty – One holdout on the jury saved Jodi from the death penalty and she was sentenced to life without parole.Prosecutor Juan Martinez, in his book, “Conviction – The Untold Story of Putting Jodi Arias Behind Bars”, describes the entire incident in vivid, easily readable detail. His understanding of the character, attitude, and personality of Jodi Arias – her ability to manipulate a conversation, her constant lies, her need to be recognized by the public – her feeling that nothing was ever her fault – contributed much to his handling of the case. The details presented during the trial and the timing by which each is entered were nothing short of prosecutorial excellence. This book is not a “who-dun-it”, nor is it a mystery. It is a well written account of highly professional police and prosecutorial work. If you enjoy a good crime story, this might be your book.

Great read
This book is quite well-written from the prosecutors point of view. He explains why he chose certain methods and gives a bit of a behind the scenes POV. Definitely worth the read if you followed the case. The book came quickly and without damage. Highly recommend.

If like me you followed the Jodi Arias case, and found the work of Juan Martinez, really admirable, don't think it twice, you will love this book. Neatly written, it takes the reader from the crime scene to the conviction in a subtle but thrilling way. Don't miss it.

Very Good.
So, I'm big into true crime. This is one case that has always interested me and the trial is always readily available on Youtube (I recommend Denty & Shaz's coverage, their humorous insights make getting through Nurmi and Willmott's snooze fest parts tolerable). I've wanted to buy this book for a while but I was reluctant to do so as I was frustrated with Juan and how he messed up his career. And I could just see Jodi's smug face when she learned of what became of him. That aside, he was brilliant in this trial so I got the book. And I'm glad I did. It was fascinating to hear from Juan's perspective and his thoughts on how he was to approach this trial. I also learned things about Jodi that I didn't know before, like how her extended family didn't like her as she would look down on them all and think she was better. Or how she had Travis's ex girlfriend, Deanna Reid, kicked out of an evidentiary hearing. Still jealous. Still controlling. She's a nasty, vindictive person and I can't believe there are people out there who support her. So, whatever his faults, Juan is still to be applauded for what he did to put her away. It's a shame she didn't get the death penalty. One other nice touch in this book is a picture of Detective Esteban Flores and his 15 year old son. His son passed away during the second trial but Detective Flores still managed to turn up in court for Travis Alexander and get justice for him. A remarkable man.

Must-read
I'm obsessed with this case, currently watching the whole trial and Martinez is such an excellent prosecutor that I had to order his book. His book is just as great as he is in court. You can't put it down once you have started reading.

Highly recommend
I really loved this book. After watching the whole trial and reading any information I could get my hands on I still found a lot of facts I didn't know in this book. Juan Martinez is both an unrivaled prosecutor and a great author, he kept me glued to the pages! It was great to read his in-depth narrative of the investigation, and it helped me to understand his behavior and strategy in the courtroom and identify the most decisive moment in the trial (some of the testimony I had dismissed as less important actually turned out to be crucial). Highly recommend to anyone interested in this case! I really admired how this shrewd prosecutor was able to take such a LIAR to task!
