Honest company! Good product!
The company really came through! At first I was very upset because the large meal worms I ordered were actually minuscule, but when I contacted the company, they immediately sent out large lovely mealworms. Very easy to work with folks. I will definitely be a repeat customer!!! Packaged nicely. Not a single dead one! Our lizard will love these!

Small, but that was expected.
Other reviews cautioned that these were small mealworms, not large. And they were right! However, I have several juvenile geckos and these mealworms are the perfect size for them. All larva seemed alive upon arrival, and were eaten with gusto. I will order again.****UPDATE 12/21As of this update, I have ordered these mealworms 18 times. (Yes; 18 times.) Quality of the order REALLY depends on seller, and I will list below the sellers that have given me 5-star experiences:Predator Foods: they ship their worms in plastic deli cups with bedding; great packaging! This is my go-to seller when they are available.Exopet: The best one so far; huge mealworms! SO MANY of them! They ship in a zip-tied cloth bag and the mealworms have pieces of paper egg carton to climb on and pieces of vegetables to eat; great packaging! I have only bought from this seller once, so will update accordingly if anything goes awry next time.DBD pet: they ship in a bag with newspaper for the worms to hide in; decent packaging.I definitely recommend the above sellers, and have paid a couple dollars more than lowest price to make sure I buy from one of the three. For whatever reason, Amazon lists all of my purchases of these mealworms as being from Predator Foods, which is highly inaccurate. I have to go to order history and do digging to see the names of the actual sellers. The remaining sellers are 4 stars or less, and include malta1553, badassbugs1, and VM feeders. In a pinch, I recommend VM feeders among these. None were outright awful, though.********** I have updated my review to 5-stars, keeping seller in mind. Always a great experience through Predator Foods, though!

All dead.
Ordered 1000 ct mealworms on March 30, received 6 days later on April 5th. They were not shipped until April 3rd late afternoon (per USPS: "Accepted at USPS Origin Facility OGDEN, UT 84401 April 3, 2023, 4:28 pm"). All mealworms were DOA. Most were dark and many were black and hard. I ordered these for the Mama and Daddy Carolina Wren birds that feed them to their baby birds born in a nest in my garage. I had been buying mealworms at a local petstore, but they are so expensive and you don't get many. The birds love them, but they will only eat LIVE bugs and worms. These DOA's arrived yesterday, and the babies are fledging today in the garage. Really would have loved to been able to offer the babies LIVE mealworms for their first day of flight. Very disappointing experience.TO GET A REFUND:It was also frustrating that the order page has a return/refund tab, but then when you click it, it says "not eligible for return". No other options are available or offered on the order page. I looked back at the product advertisement page and it does say "eligible for refund or replacement if you contact seller with photos" in the description... and it also states this on the right-hand side under the "buy now" tab. But! There is no tab or option to contact the seller! Not even on the seller's storefront page. So, I went to the "help" section on Amazon (scroll down, it is the second to last section near bottom (dark blue background) on the right side, the last option on list)... and I hit the "help" tab. I selected options for Amazon customer care call to me. I explained the situation and lack of any refund options/tabs despite the product ad stating it was "eligible for refund". The Amazon customer care rep promptly refunded my purchase price in full. I'm glad Amazon took care of it, but I still wish I had LIVE mealworms today! :/

Training chickens
I use the meal worms to help train my chickens. I also give them as a little treat due to the protein that can be lacking in some areas with them having to be in a run or in the chicken coop. Meal worms are easy to take care of but the meals worms that I got before were all dried and my chickens wanted nothing to do with them. They were raised on live bugs so when I seen the 1000 count for the price I was like yup. They come in a container that is for most purposes a great started home and can even be kept if you plan to breed meal worms. They are in great condition with no dead vs live and they are shipped in a great time frame so there was no damage from that. Great company that pays good attention to not just what they are selling but quality of what they are selling. One of the biggest things that I like about how they shipped the meal worms wasn't just the container the time frame is a big deal. They are fast and reliable with a great product that is very much worth the money.

Worms are not large.
The package arrived ahead of its expected delivery date with all the worms alive and well. However I ordered the large size worms and found them to be comparable to petcos small.

Packaging and Guarantee Issues
I hope this fair and lengthy review will help not just the buyers but the seller.I ordered 1000 meal worms to replenish my own little mealworm farm that I have going on for my reptile pet. I have had the success of reproducing the store bought mealworms to darkling beetles that lays eggs. I just needed more to continue the cycle so I ordered the meal worms from Predator Foods in CA, it was shipped from Surmen Legacy in NJ. It worked out for me as I live in PA. It only took a little over 24 hours for UPS to deliver it.When it was delivered to me, both the origin and destination temperature were between 40 - 80 degrees. The package was quickly received into the house and was maybe outside for 2 hours max. When I opened the box, the mealworms were in a mesh bag with crumpled paper inside (no wheat bran or anything other than just the worms and a piece of crumbled paper). Upon further inspecting, the worms did not look too good. I dumped them in my container of fresh wheat bran and potato slices. After 12 hours, 90% of the mealworms were exactly in the same spot as I dumped them. In about 24 hours 90% turned black and brittle and died. When I contacted customer service, they asked me for pictures so I sent them. They were not quick to honor their guarantee and told me that these worms are meant to live for a couple of hours after their arrival. What?! I thought on the website that these worms would live for weeks at the refrigerator temperature. Anyway, after many pictures and sharing my experience raising mealworms, they finally agreed to send a replacement shipment.I just received the replacement from them. This time it was shipped via USPS and it also took a little over 24 hours to arrive. But this time the worms were in a plastic container with holes in it (Yay!). And they were "cushioned" by wheat bran. This time 90% or more survived, as I dumped them into my container, within 5 minutes all the alive meal worms (90% of them) flocked to the potato slices in the container.I took 2 stars off because one star is due to poor packaging. These mealworms should not be shipped in a mesh bag as they literally died from being bashed against each other in shipment. One piece of paper did nothing to provide a cushion. All the worms were at the bottom of the bag not moving (dead) while the paper was near the opening of the mesh bag. The 2nd shipment that came in the plastic container with wheat bran not only cushions the worms, but the container actually serves as humidor keeping the humidity high inside so that they don't dry out. So I took one star because of the poor packaging. The second star was taken because of the customer rep trying to argue with me that it was somehow my fault that 90% of the meal worms died on arrival. If I was not an experienced mealworm farmer, I would not have gotten the replacement shipment. When I explained to them specifically what I did to try to keep these meal worms alive from the moment I opened the box, they reluctantly decided to honor their guarantee. So I took one star off because of this.Hope the seller stops shipping these mealworms in a mesh bag and honors their customer's request for replacement when the worms are dead on arrival due to their packaging issues.
