would this be good for my neck?

No this is for laying the body on in yin and restorative yoga postures. It is too big for a neck pillow.

It's the cover texture soft?

It’s heavy with a texture a little stiffer than Blue jean material

Does this arrive compressed? If so, how long does until it takes shape?

It arrived NOT compressed. Out of the box ready.
