Great for places lacking in surfaces to bounce your flash
I purchased this specifically because we go on a lot of cruises and cruise ships are absolutely terrible for flash photography. They offer nowhere to bounce your flash because every wall/ceiling is all sorts of crazy colors. For example, the last cruise ship dinning room we were in was red floor, walls, and ceiling. Even the light fixtures were red glass! My wife was tired of me asking her to hold a white napkin up for me.This was the perfect solution! I would roll it up and stick it along with an SB-800 in my back pocket and when I needed flash, I would attach it to the SB-800 and use it off-camera (usually just holding with my left hand). It isn't going to get you the same results as a huge softbox or octa, but if you hold it as close to your subject as possible, you get pretty soft light.My only complaint is that you can't really fold it up while it is attached to the flash. You could bend it over it, but I fear that continuous bending that tightly will cause the wires to eventually break. I would love if there was a way to fold it up while attached to the camera so you could shove it in a pocket without having to remove it and reattach it each time. I don't have a solution for this, but surely someone more creative than me could figure it out. Maybe have the spot where the reflector attaches to the velcro band not be rigid so you could fold it back flush along the back of the flash. Then have some kind of plastic tab you could slide in place to hold it up when you are ready to use it.
