The method of using the anti-theft rope is as follows.

First of all, your dog sounds adorable! Second, I don't think the magnets would hold at highway speeds. You'd be better off with one large car sign magnet. This is thick rubber (like a soft yoga mat) and it has several small magnets throughout. It's great for protecting our car against parking space dings in our building's tiny lot, but both its thickness and easy removal would work against you when driving. Please tell your dog he's a "good boy" for me, and good luck!
