Measurements on the go Use the Node’s internal battery, storage and high precision sensors to take measurements at home, in the classroom, car and beyond. The Node was developed with researchers, HVAC professionals and curious individuals in mind. Retrieve your data wirelessly, analyze it and reach your own conclusions. Air quality & weather forecast Be proactive in avoiding harmful outdoor air pollution. AirVisual uses in-house data and machine learning to forecast air quality in 8,000 locations worldwide*, helping you stay prepared and plan your activities for the healthiest times. *Check airvisual.com/world for outdoor station availability Be an outdoor data contributor Many places around the world still lack local air quality data. By placing your Node outdoors and designating it as a public outdoor station, you become a data source - providing neighbours, researchers, and policy advocates valuable information about your local community. Addictive screen display The Node’s bright 5” screen uses easy to understand, color-coded symbols to quickly convey your air quality at a glance, without having to rely on an app. Watch the display rotate through indoor and outdoor AQI, CO2, air quality & weather forecasts and personalized advice. About the Startup Describe your product in 3 words. See. Prepare. Protect. How did you come up with the idea for this product? Having lived in Beijing for two decades, a city with 8 times the WHO-recommended pollution threshold, we sought to better understand the risks in the air we and our families were breathing, indoors and out. With a background in big data, sensors and IoT devices, we were able to bring a novel approach to the pollution problem, empowering people to improve their health and productivity by providing them with the data and information they need. The Node helps localize the air pollution challenge down to the individual, making a seemingly daunting task as manageable as a single room. What makes your product special? The Node goes a step further than other monitors, giving you the biggest picture of your air quality. It shows you exactly where you stand, considering indoor and outdoor air, and showing you both historical, real-time and forecast data. It takes professional-grade, accurate measurements and visualizes these in a colourful and easy-to-understand way on-screen so that children, parents and passers-by alike can benefit from knowing their environment, and how to respond. Its internal battery allows people to pick up the Node, walk around and immediately see changes in your air quality on the Node’s screen. What has been the best part of your startup experience? Critical to launching the project off the ground was a successful crowdfunding campaign via Indiegogo. Through the campaign we were able to connect with supporters in over 35 countries worldwide, offering tools to improve their wellbeing and democratize their local air quality. The Node’s unique ability to be placed outdoors and listed as a public outdoor station has helped provide local communities which previously lacked air quality data, with the information needed to generate awareness and help improve people’s health. AirVisual is now the first to report live outdoor air quality in Saudi Arabia, Cambodia, Pakistan, Italy and the Philippines - with significant results! Sound interesting? Let us help you get your local air quality on the crowd sourced map!

Learnt a lot about optimizing air quality indoors
I'm glad I bought it. I use it primarily to measure carbon dioxide (CO2 - what we breathe out) and PM2.5 (the more nasty kind of particulate pollution, that which can cross over from the air into your blood and cause health problems). It also measures temperature and relative humidity.I bought this device because it measures PM2.5. The popular Awair device, though it's hard to find specs for what it really measures (it's not even in the manual - that's not a good sign), apparently measures PM10, and PM10 as far as I know is not a good indicator of the kind of pollution that most impacts your health, that's what I care about. It's been very useful to know when to open the windows and when to keep them closed. Since I don't (yet) own an air purifier, I can only open the windows when pollution outside is low (which the PM2.5 sensor lets you know if you put the device outside for 10 seconds). The first surprise was to learn just how fast CO2 builds up when the windows are closed. I live in a small, 500 sq. ft. apartment. When the windows are open for a while CO2 gets down to about the outside level (below 500ppm) and in just a few hours with the windows closed it's over 1300ppm and rising - and that's assuming I don't close the room's door. Too bad even levels as low as 900ppm have been found to degrade mental performance in some cognitive tasks. (Keep in mind that the degradation of performance is only temporary. I don't think there are long-term effects of exposure to high CO2 in these ranges.)So the first thing I learnt is this: I should keep the room's door when possible. Otherwise, CO2 goes up pretty fast in these small rooms. The second surprise lesson was this: the stove, and even more so the oven, raise CO2 levels really fast. Someone cooking a pie for 40 minutes in our natural gas-powered oven takes CO2 levels in the entire apartment over 3000ppm. I knew that natural gas combustion produces CO2 but I didn't know it produces so much.Another lesson was that the morning is an ideal time to open the windows, however cold it may be outside, since PM2.5 pollution is low in the morning all the way to around 4pm, when houses in the neighborhood begin firing up their fire places and emitting smoke -- and then it gets really polluted! (And that was another surprise. I know wood smoke is bad but I didn't know the pollution here in winter is SO bad.)I would like to have another brand of sensors to compare the measurements for accuracy, but so far I haven't seen anything to make me doubt the accuracy. The measurements make sense.

A very smart purchase.
Recently the Pacific Northwest suffered some terrible air pollution from fires in the region and BC. The air was dangerous outside so I ordered the AirVisual Node to compliment the iPhone app that I already love. I'm so impressed with the level of data and the rapid response of the sensors to determine if we have an indoor air quality problem. The node also communicates with your wifi network to display its results for your indoor and any local outdoor station on any smart phone/pad/pc you have hooked up to the same network. Long battery life allows you to place this in any area of your home or yard to test if pollution might be affecting your health. Burn a piece of toast in the kitchen and it reacts within seconds to warn you of particulate matter. Have smokers in the house, this might just remind them how much they may foul the air everyone else breaths. It even reminds you when to close your windows to keep your air clean inside. Yup, it's not cheap, but what's your family’s lung health really worth in the long run?Well built, stylish, looks like Apple designed it.

Works great and reasonable price
Works great and reasonable price. We consult it often each day. Compares your indoor air quality with the government-reported outdoor quality, and gives you CO2 monitoring.

Respiratory health, what’s your indoor AQI?
As people age, many don’t realize that their home can be more polluted than the outdoors. In our family, several of my husband’s immediate relatives died from respiratory failure so air quality is vèy important to me. Years of having electronic air filters & worrying about allergies, I could not measure any product performance until my AirVisual node! My indoor AQI range is 1-12 which is excellent! An added bonus, the node’s forecasting ability is wonderful, letting me know if it’s safe to open windows for fresh air.

I used this product in a room that is notorious for bad air quality and the unit only displayed its green happy face for days. A lot of money for a product that just doesn't seem to work well at all.
