Magika Swordsman and Summoner Vol. 5

I'm reviewing these as I read them. I'm torn between giving this book 4 or 3 stars. I'm going to go with 3.............. Here's why................The story on it's own gets 5 stars!!! It's building. There's enough intrigue in the plot to keep you enticed balanced with a load of action! It's engaging and keeps me wanting to read the next chapter!What's letting this work down is the art........ Not that I think it's bad. I think it's poorly designed for this size and type of media. There's more than one splash page that I had to really stare at to figure out what I was looking at during the action sequences.Also.......I know that using the "characters in a pact with a mythical creature/character" trope kind of locks the author into having a large cast of characters, but that requires you make each one look VERY UNIQUE........ ESPECIALLY in black and white!!!! I'm suffering from "black and white Power Rangers" syndrome as I'm reading this! I realize by looking at the color and cover art that these girls are supposed to be different colors and I think that this story would be served MASSIVELY by a color printing! As it stands it's disappointing and sometimes down right frustrating.........It's worth the money but............ I'm hoping for an anime.......or a color release!!!!!!

Kazuki has to win the affection of the other female summoners to use his own powers. He'll need them as things become even more dangerous. Kazuki and Mio, the first girl to lose her heart to him, have to work together to protect a summoner fleeing in exile from Germany.Lotte needs Kazuki to be strong. And if he can protect her and show his strength, he'll win another heart. He needs to build his harem to have the strength to face what is coming because there are those that fear his power.And they plot his destruction. Someone close to him might be his undoing!Magicka Swordsmen and Summoner 5 takes a serious tone. While the story is still fun, and the fanservice is as naughty as ever, the stakes are growing. Kazuki is attracting enemies from all around as his power grows. He will need to be strong and relay on his growing harem to win through. If he can't, he might doom everything.If you're a fan of harem manga, sexy girls, and action-packed stories, then you need to check out this sizzling manga!

I'm really enjoying this series and the story is getting deeper with Vol 5. Vol 5 continues with Kazuki as 'the King' but we get more of 'Lotte and Kaya/Loki as well. The Kaya/Loki thing looks like being an interesting development for the future.

Another good issue.Great fight scenes.I'm looking forward to Vol 6 (sucks they take so long to be released).I would love if this got turned into an anime series.

Great new issue, good fights and some surprising/curious developments. Looking forward to 6 very much, wish it weren't so far away!

It's turning in to good story that has the Cartier growing and believing in his self and his new friends .
