Buy a phase converter that is rated for more HP than you have.
I bought a press break that was 3phase. I ordered the DPS 5hp phase converter, it has worked perfect. Easy to wire up, I'm very happy with my purchase.

Don't Purchase - wrecks motors
We run a dough mixer, and using this converter we almost destroyed some parts of the motor. The converter doesn't send the correct amps to the machine so the motor starts to heat up making an eery noise followed by shutting down. We thought we had the wrong Amp converter so we got the successive higher converter but got the same outcome, same heating up, same noise, same behavior. We purchased a different brand (MYSWEETY) and the dough mixer works perfectly.

Solved my problem.
Used on a 3 phase Hobart meat grinder. It works perfectly! Just be sure that you match it to your motors specs. I had zero experience in doing this, just a basic knowledge in electrical wiring. I still dont completely understand 3 phase power.

Used 3 phase machine tools at home
Used on a 4 foot 3-phase press brake. Runs great, has full power.

Phase converter
Works great on my 2hp Bridgeport mill. Tried the PS-3 for the 2hp and it did not work so had to go 1hp up in size.

did not work out of box
3 phase motor on a tumbler 6 amp draw ,The motor would not turn fast enough to generate the 3rd leg of powder due to heavy start up load. THIS WOULD WORK IF THE MOTOR YOU INSTALL IT ON DOSE NOT HAVE A HEAVY LOAD ON START UP. like a fan ,mill, drill press ECT. low load on star up. will not work on tumbler ,air compressor ,primed pump etc.. the seller did not list this. I install different kind of phase converter and my tumbler ran fine. SELLER NEEDS TO LIST THIS SO NO ONE WAST THERE TIME.THEY HAVE TO KNOW.

Install a switch
Worked for my 3hp table saw for 2yrs. I suspect if I had switched off breaker in between uses that it may have lasted longer. I bought another and will power down between uses.
