A very good book, I had a hard time getting anything ...
A very good book, I had a hard time getting anything else done except read this book. This book gives you the insight of the problem we have with North Korea and some of the other pertinent Islands in the area with their military's. It shows the balancing act that the US Military has with coping in that part of the world and how easy it is to manipulate the events in the area. This Tom Clancy series should be required reading for any one running for the position of President of the United States of America. Better yet, for every one that is old enough to vote in our elections.

Starts out slowly and picks up the pace and intensity!
Since this is the first book in a series, it takes time to get all the new names and functions working. This story begins in South Korea.. Op center, of course, is headquartered in the US, but like many agencies in government, it officially does not exist. A bombing at a celebration in Seoul looks to be the work of the DPRK, but no one is really sure, which makes this a great story!

Slow
For a Tom Clancy story, this was a long, slogging read. While his stories are typically on the verbose side, this one lacked any action whatever. Disappointed!

Engaging read
The story itself is well paced and engaging. One odd thing though is a phrase which is repeatedly used which makes it seem unlikely to have been written by a “Tom Clancy-esqe” American. “He shut the phone to conserve the battery.” “She shut the light.” It’s just strange wording for a native.

Could have been better
This was not the best Clancy book that I have read. I guess the story did not hold MY interest. I will continue to read Tom Clancy books.

Good read
The American ops teams at their best. What can they do with the lack of information? They need more. Can they figure it out in time?

BORING!!
The slowest of the OP Center books. No interest in this if you are not a follower of the OP Center series.

Good Story----Lousy Details
This was a good story, but obviously not written by Clancy. I'm surprised he let his name get put on the cover. The details concerning the characters and some of the events destroy the whole fabric of the story. For example, most of the enlisted personnel in the story are cited as being "Privates". In real life, guys with those kinds of knowledge and skills would be senior NCO's. This applies to both the North and South Korean forces and the the US military. Also the team leader would not be a 25-year old Lt. Col. Maybe a 35-year old, but not 25. The author also shows his general lack of knowledge of things military by indiscriminately labeling all military forces the Army. The Army does not operate C-9A Nightengale or C-141 aircraft. The author's lack of knowledge of his characters took the edge off the whole story.

Tom Clancy (y coautor) en estado puro.
Leer al difunto Tom Clancy es un vicio. Terminados los libros sobre Jack Ryan Sr., hay que agarrarse a lo que se encuentre.
