These books are wonderful!
My three year old granddaughter adores the Katie books, and right now this is her favorite! I love the fact that she is being introduced to art and artists at such a young age. The story line is fun, and my Katie is fascinated with the vocabulary. Every time I read the word "clambered," for example, she stops me and we have a conversation about what it means.

What a great book!
I am a homeschooling mother of two and is therefore constantly looking for educational material. These Katie books are fantastic. I love each and every one of them and this one is no exception. My kids were 5 years old when we started with Katie and they can identify so many famous paintings and the artists who painted it - it's just amazing. This book is so beautifully illustrated it completely captures the minds and imaginations of children. What a wonderful way to be introduced to the world of arts.

Kids ( and their grown ups) can learn about art.
My granddaughters (ages 8, 5, and 4) love all of the books in The Katie series. They are effortlessly learning about art appreciation and are thrilled with Katie’s adventures. The suggestions for children’s art at the end of each book are simple and related to the style of art found in the book. My girls have enjoyed these activities and produced some creative paintings.

We loved, she liked
My daughter liked the book- as parents we love the exposure to art! We ordered it as a compliment to her Halloween costume.

Another lovely Katie book
Buy this one for your little princess lover. Not only will she (or he) be introduced to a non-Disney princess, she will also learn a little more about Spanish art. And, if your princess lover is like mine, she will giggle at "Diego" (Velazquez) because Diego is normally a little boy with a loud friend named Dora.

Fun intro to art
I love the Katie books. I used this one recently with a student I tutor in English, and she loved it too.

A great reading!
What an amazing book this is! My daughters love it because it's quite fun. But there are other components that make me think this is a great resource for parents: First, the art is conceived as something enjoyable -as it happens with all the Katie books by James Mayhew. Second, it includes some highlights from Spanish Masterworks, who are not as "popular" as other artistic periods. Even more, Mayhew includes some social topics, such as poverty vs. richness. At the end of the book, Katie realizes that being a princess is not as fun as she thought, which brings us the idea of dispeling the Disney-princess stereotype. Summing up, a great book to enjoy with your kids!

excellent reading books for children
My daughter has just started reading english (we are welsh speaking/reading) I bought these to help her along as they are about actual places we have visited and paintings we have seen so it makes the story more interesting. My daughter loves them and reads them to her younger brothers who love her to read them bedtime stories. Excellent books definitely recommend.

Love Katie's books! Great history
We love Katie's collection and are sad that we only got 3 of them translated to Brazilian Portuguese. It is quite hard to find the versions in English and I was glad to find this one for a reasonable price. The history is quite ludic and with an special tone of social care looking for the challenges and advantages of being a pricess. It enables a good space for dialogs about social disparity with the kids. To my surprise this book was edited in a bigger size than the other books I have from Katie's collection (not actually a problem). Another different part - which I missed - is the traditional summary of the featured painters at the last page. My kid (3y) follows every page and details during the reading of this book (as whell as for all other Katie's books). James Mayhew's work is amazing to present kids to the art world.
