I am so sorry, I cannot answer your question, I bought this item as a gift for someone else. They said they had fun with putting it together, but that is all I can tell you.

Q: Would this be a good puzzle for a 75 yo with mild dementia? Are the pieces large enough to adult fingers to manipulate?

I think I would say no. It has a lot of tiny flaps to fit together which only a ten year old would have the patience and dexterity for. I would recommend instead 100-200 piece jigsaw puzzles for younger children that are still challenging for their grandparents. Or small lego sets maybe?

Q: is this model puzzle made of paper, cardboard, plastic or wood ?

This puzzle is foam center with heavy coated paper outer layer. Really nice quality. We were very happy with our puzzle.
