St. Paul was the first to really define love. St. John Chrysostom unpacks it. One of the most important passages in the Scriptures, First Corinthians 13 is often read and rarely followed. Medieval theologian, John Chrysostom, was called the "golden-mouthed" one, for the eloquence of his preaching. His reputation extended from his native East to the Christian West, and he is remembered today as a Church Father for the entire Church. Now available in a popular contemporary English translation for the first time, The Love Chapter makes available these most important reflections of St. John, on a most important portion of the New Testament. Review: Beautiful - this is a very thought provoking and timely read, tho the material is ancient Review: Absolutely wonderful - Chrysostom is one that poses simple questions and provides definitive answers throughout a majority of the homilies in this book. So many times I read books that take you on a 2-300 page journey to come to an answer regarding the path to Christ. Chrysostom, by contrast, gets to the point, and then hammers that point home consistently. He is very intelligent, as evidenced by his vocabulary (I'd suggest keeping a pocket dictionary close), and his knowledge of scripture is astounding. This has become one of my favorite books, and has helped me come to a much better understanding of Christ's selfless love that all Christians should seek to emulate in all aspects of life.

I highly Highly recommend this book!
I recommend all Orthodox Christian Books, even though they are sometimes hard to find in the Western world. After being a protestant in America for 10 years, I rediscovered Orthodoxy as the One and True Church created by Jesus Himself. A Church whose teachings do not confuse like the 32000 different protestant denominations. It feels like living for the first time!
