Thermotex Infrared Heating Pad - 15 x 16" - TTS Gold

Bought this for a hip problem or any future issues. Researched the infrared feature and apparently it is better for healing so I was willing to pay extra for something more effective. It works well and so far it has been helping. Although one side is padded, this is not the heat side. The heated side is mounted against a hard board, presumably to facilitate more efficient heat transfer to affected areas. For someone with hip problems, sitting on a hard piece of wood is not ideal. I can tell that leaning against it for back problems or maybe lying on your side with the heating pad between you and a sofa would also work but unlike conventional heating pads which are flexible and can be wrapped around an area, this is not flexible.

Get the platinum because the gold version is literally a solid board. I read the description that the gold was “firm” and the platinum was “flexible”, which is what I wanted, because I wanted it to be somewhat firm to use it on my office chair back, so it would be able to hold its position and not slip down and fall off, but I was shocked to find out that the gold is hard as a rock! It’s a solid board, it feels like a mason board in there. I can’t imagine how you would even use it, you can’t even lay on it it’s so hard. It would still work for the purpose of using it on my chair back, but even for that I would want some flexibility to it, so I decided to exchange it for the platinum. The platinum is still the solid board design, but it’s in 3 panels, so it has some flexibility to it. It also has Velcro straps attached to it that the gold doesn’t have, which I was able to use to strap to the back of my chair. Now that I got the platinum, I’m overall happy with this purchase, it works well for my purpose. I also love the padded velvet material, it’s so luxurious! It feels high quality and well made. And I can also see someone laying on this, or using it on specific areas. Overall, I’d say this is a good purchase if you get the platinum.

It is hard as a rock on the side you’re supposed to lean on so very uncomfortable if you have a bad back! Plus it doesn’t really do much!
