BALIBETOV Yerba Mate Gourd Set – Original Natural Handmade Yerba Mate Cup from Argentina, Includes Mate Tea Cup, Bombilla (Mate Straw) and Cleaning Brush, Traditional Mate Cup Gift Set

These have been working great, and come with a good bag of yerba, and a good value, considering this set just costs a little more than a single gourd and bombilla. As far as the negative reviews, I want to remind folks, these are made from natural gourds (similar to a small pumpkin), so they will not be the same size, shape, or color. They also require curing. This is typical of any gourd for drinking yerba mate, not just this brand. The inside is going to look like a gutted gourd (or a gutted small pumpkin). When you first fill them for curing, they will leak a bit from the bottom, and some skin will flake off inside. That's why they need to be cured. When they are ready, the inside will be nice and clean, and the leaking will stop. The instructions are very clear about this, and are well written. The only thing I cringe about in the instructions is, it says to remove the woody stem on the inside, during curing. I've heard this can cause a permanent leak, and it doesn't seem necessary, so you may not want to remove it. Bottom line: if you want them to be all identical and ready to drink without any curing, you should not be buying a gourd; buy a plastic or metal container. But if you want to drink your yerba mate out of authentic, natural gourds, this set is a good value.

This is a horrible product. I don’t think it’s safe to drink from it. Feels and looks very cheap. Also there’s no return policy due to the nature of the objects. Save your money and buy something that can actually be cleaned. This one can’t be.

This is my first foray into the Yerba Mate environment and these gourds are great. They do leak from the top trim but if you just don't over fill it it's fine. Be sure to follow the seasoning instructions, even though it seems weird. It's natural for them to sweat a bit for the first few uses.

I wouldn't recommend it; it’s not very good. It leaks, and the second gourd changed color on the outside—and it’s black on the inside. I did the curing process beforehand; the herb included is only meant for curing the gourd. After curing it, I dried it thoroughly and let it air-dry.

I recently purchased the BALIBETOV Set of Two Yerba Mate Gourds with the included 100g pack of yerba mate, and it exceeded my expectations. This is a perfect starter kit, whether you’re new to mate or looking for a compact set to share. The set is nicely packaged and makes an excellent gift for my grandson, who is curious about mate culture. The fact that it includes everything needed to get started is a big bonus. The Mate included is one that my Argentine "son" tells me is exactly what he drinks every morning, so it is truly authentic. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a stylish and authentic way to enjoy yerba mate!

As someone who works with a lot of argentine's who drink an extensive amount of Maté... This is really not the greatest value for your money. The gourds are two different sizes, which I think is somewhat understandable, given the fact that they are natural gourds...HOWEVER, they are far too big and any argentino will tell you that the gourds are too big to drink out of because they require too much yerba. Realistically, even with the smallest gourd you would have to share and drink it quickly or it would ruin the taste of the Yerba. Overall, a great idea and an earnest attempt at trying to bring the tradition of maté to the mainstream, Western market... But it falls short of its attempt. Most people in Argentina use smaller gourds, silicone, metal and leather or a similar product that cost less than this product does, works better and preserves the flavor far better than these gourds do. Also, the metal band around the top of the cord causes it to leak if you turn it upside down, something that is mandatory for removing the spent yerba. Hope this helps

I loved drinking yerba matte through the gourds. The taste profile was significantly different than in a mug/glass. The size of the gourds are a bit large, you end up using a lot of matte. As well, the metal straws do not seem to effectively filter the leaves. I didn't mind but my mother-in-law did not like it. As well, There is a lot of mess/cleaning after and I was not exactly sure if I should clean it with soap etc. Pieces of the actual gourd came out. I was told there is a way to season/prime the cup, I definitely missed this step.

Be aware. Not refundable item and a total scam. Do not buy it. Poor quality

Perfect product

Nice and authentic set, comes with everything you need to get started with your mate tea.

The cups are useless! It looks to be a hollowed out apple with a lead lid. I threw them out right away. Waste of money....I was acpecting ceramic mugs for that price
