Definitely not for tall people. After a wash it sits just below my belt. I am carrying about 40lbs more than I should f that helps.

What is the "weight" of the 100% cotton? Is it 5.3 oz?

Call "weight is 6oz" is imprecise. The fabric is 6oz/sq yard cotton. The weight of any T-Shirt obviously depends on its size. I find my XL weighs about 8oz when first arrival.

Are there seams down the sides?

No. The only stitching is on the sleeves

In the picture the shirt looks a little shiny. These are 100% cotton right?

They are 100 percent cotton the shine may be from the photo..sometimes a camera or phone will throw glare into a photo and throw the image off..these are the best quality and best fitting shirts I've worn..and at a great price..hope that helps..
