Uncommon usage ...
I purchased this roll of tape for a very non-standard reason. I cut out pieces to "install" on the heels of my leather shoes. Leather soled shoes can be very slippery on wet or marble floors. Installation was easy, using a pair of kitchen scissors and a razor cutter, I was able to shape pieces to match the shape of the soles of my shoes in a couple of minutes a pair. So far, they haven't come off and seem to be durable.

Lots of grip
I have a ramp up to the door on my shed. Between the ramp aging and my old steel toes relegated to yard work, it's a bit of a slip and slide. Cut up some strips of this to stick on each plank and it works very well. A few months in and it's held up to foot traffic and weather. The paper backing takes some effort to remove but if you fold a corner back and forth it isn't insurmountable. I appreciate the heavy adhesive but you won't get a second chance if you don't put it exactly where you want the first time. So be it. Works as intended. There isn't a lot of it though in each roll so make sure to measure what you need before buying or else you'll be going back for more like I did.

Great Durability; an Easy Way to Reduce Slip Hazards
I bought this tape a year-and-a-half ago to install at a local community arts center with slippery stairs. The stairs get very heavy traffic, yet the tape is still in great condition and performing its function well. The edges have worn off a little in spots, but generally the only damage in all of this time is a small tear in a location where the unevenness of the stair tread prevents the tape from making full contact with the tread. When I installed the tape, I did round the edges in order to reduce the likelihood that the tape could start peeling away; I don't know if this was really necessary or beneficial. I also stapled the tape in spots to ensure its adhesion, but I'm largely sure that that extra insurance was completely unnecessary - the tape seems to really adhere quite well to the steps. My only caution with this product is that if you have sensitive skin, you might want to consider wearing gloves, as pressing the gritty tape onto a lot of stairs is like rubbing your fingers against sandpaper for an hour or two.

good quality but expensive
This stuff is expensive, but I tried cheaper alternatives and all 3 other brands peeled off within a couple of weeks when applied to wood stairs outdoors. This is the only one that has stayed on. 5 stars for quality, 3 stars for the high price

Works great!
I built a ramp going from our front to back yard. Once I was done I realized it was probably a little steeper then it should be. It was fine when it was clean and dry but as soon as it got a little bit of saw dust or mud/dirt on it felt like you might slide. I installed a strip of this stuff at the top and bottom of each board of the ramp (2x6) boards and now even my elderly neighbor says she feels comfortable going up and down the ramp. It's only been 2 months since I installed it but it doesn't show signs of wearing or peeling even though I regularly go up and down it with the lawn mower, wheelbarrow, and other equipment. I'll see how it's holding up after winter and update if it changes but I think the stuff is there to stay. I didn't prep the surface as well as I probably should have, I hosed it off but didn't bother to scrub any dirt off. Also after hosing it off I only gave it about two hours to dry. The wood wasn't soaked any more but still damp to the touch, like I said though it's been holding fine any way. As far as people that had trouble with it sticking I highly recommend doing it on a hot day, preferably with the sun beating on the tape. Also if you get a piece down and realize it's not how you want it, your going to have to toss it. Once you peel it off it just doesn't seem to stick right, even if it's only on for a second.

High Traction
I applied this to my deck stairs a couple months ago now and it's holding like a champ even though it's rained 4 out of 5 days ever since. The traction is great. Whatever you want to put this on - it needs to be well cleaned and dry before you put it on. My application to painted wood stairs: I scrubbed with a floor brush, water bucket and a tiny bit of dish soap. Rinsed very well. Dried 24 hours. Quick wipe down with cotton cloth damp with denatured alcohol. (Not too much - don't dissolve your paint!) Applied the tape. Placed towel over it and used a metal roller vigorously. (Eternabond 2Lb Steel Roller is what I used) Things to consider if applying to wood. How recently was it waterproofed? I can't imagine any adhesive would work well on top of a coat of Thompson's water seal or whatever else. In the shade and slick because of moss/mold/lichen stuff growing on it? You have to get that stuff completely off if you want this to stick. Power washer followed by sand paper is what I'd do. I'll try to remember to come back and update this next summer after I see how it holds up longer term. Update! I can't say for sure if the product is for sure still the same.. but it's been FIVE YEARS and this stuff has not come off the stairs. The paint is peeling off the deck but this stuff has stayed. Sure there's a spot here and there that has peeled a little bit but it's still going strong. A+ Changed to well deserved 5 stars. Update 2: 8 years later and I've still not replaced this tape. Missing some bits here and there.. It's not super pretty any more.. but wow 8 years?? Hope they haven't changed how they make it. 👍👍👍

Perfect for outdoor treated wood steps
I used this tread tape for my deck steps. I started putting two strips on each step, but I think it works better with only one, just at the edge of each step. That way, if you're in socks or bare feet, you don't have to step on the edge and feel the rough surface. When it's wet, these definitely give you a sense of security. And if you back the tread just a tiny bit off the edge, you can quickly slide down the steps by rolling your foot forward as you descend. I have these on the steps up to the deck, as well as the steps that go up to the second floor. Those are the most important, as it's a steep, long flight of stairs, very high off the ground. I plan to buy another roll, to finish the few steps I missed. I have had no problems with adhesion through rain, sun, and cold.
