This may be fine but it is much smaller than the other elements I used, shorted after 3 days but...

This arived quickly . My stove, a Quadrafire Mt. Vernon AE actually had three wrong with it. It was trying to light with the original element but all I got was smoke . The element appeared to be in decent used condition so I started looking elseware for the problem . It was sensitve to the hopper lid , so I cleaned the magnetic switch and bent the bracke slightly, then pushed the entire lid assembly to the back and right as far as it would go. The problem went away but why they didn't secure this assembly to the rest of the stove befuddleds me. I aslo had a problem at the circuit board, one of the pins had bent and broke off. I made a new leg from a trim pot and it worked or a year. Due to vibration, the solder joint on the circuit board broke and made a repair , but didn't know what size to replace the pin with , so it needs more work to be right. The final problem was one you could see. I pulled the old element out and pulled back the insulation and only two strands of wire remained so I put my spare element and my stove is operating as it should. I'm concerned about the size of this element, the originals all fit snugly in the square amssebly where it resides. This may cause an issue with the smaller element, only time will tell, a metal shim may be required for the element to be in the proper position to be reliable. This ran perfect for three days, then I got the dreaded missed ignition from my stove. I checked the fuses first and one was blown, it was only 5 amp so I put in a 7 amp and tried again. Saw a flash where the igniter comes in contact . Pulled the igniter out and it had a hole in it. lol I should have put a meter on the element after I changed replaced the fuse but lack of sleep from having a stove not being reliable has clouded my thinking. Hopefully the fuses protected the board , which I just got done preparing is ok. If you want to know the size of the TC1 plug, the sizes of those fitting are determined by the distance between the legs or holes. Mine were 2.5 mm, could be 2.56m but that is splitting hairs. My fittings are black, the new one is white, the female that is mounted to the board. My old fitting fits nice and snug inside the new fitting which has a catch on the from , not the side like the old fitting but has not moved. We have very good power here at about 125vac, but I've measured close to 130vac at times. This is the second faulty ignitor I've had in the last 4 months. The first one should never had been shipped as the bend was not close to 180 degrees. I should have checked it when I got it but I didn't need it right then , it was bought as a spare. It was only bent enough to fit the box without distorting it. It did not fit in the receptacle on the stove so I had to gently bend it to use it at all. Gonna look locally but the price are usually jacked up so high.............
