David Austen English Roses

Bought this for my wife's 50th birthday today, she loves roses and has some by David Austin nurseries. Although lots of lovely photos it had only 3 pages or so related to propagation.. This was a very expensive book at £17 and so am sorely disappointed that it did not include photos and general support for pruning etc, that most newbies would want. Will have to buy another book now after hoping it might include ALL for the rise enthusiast.. Poor show unless you want a logbook with general information about scent, height, sunny position etc.. Not happy..

It's the exact same photos and short descriptions of each rose from the David Austin website, except in print form. Half the roses in the book aren't even commercially available any more and the foreword is an article called "The Character of the English Rose" that's available online, just copied and pasted in. It's a shameless cash-grab and I put my copy straight back in the post and returned it to Amazon the same day.I never usually write reviews but after paying £18 and waiting for this pre-order, I feel like I need to warn people that the claims of this being an "informative" book with "valuable information on all aspects of rose cultivation" is just an outright lie. Keep your money.

Bought as a present and hope I can borrow it. My daughter now has 34 roses in her garden and is looking for more. This book has fantastic information and is an interesting read. She now has a list of roses to buy.

Love this book, its one to come back to time after time, David Austin is the most amazing rose breeder, of our time , anyone who loves roses needs to read this book and start growing old roses.excellent copy , great value for money and service. Will buy from this seller again
