This teakettle looks like the day it came - shiny and beautiful. It works just as promised - holds up to medium heat without stains on the bottom. You can see the bottom - which is a benefit. I've had colored enamel over metal teakettles in the past which were pretty but the black inside enamel could never really see what was going on with water mineral buildup, etc. This one is gorgeous inside and out and on the bottom too. It is sturdy. The handle is sturdy and does not get hot for me where it is held. I was worried it would be too heavy for me, as I wanted a kettle that could boil at least 8 cups of water at a time for my iced tea routine. But it is not too heavy. Just take care as you would with any amount of boiling water. The lid comes off just fine but it also stays on just fine, so you don't have to worry about it falling off while you're pouring hot water. The whistle part is working really well and seems it will continue to be sturdy also. It does whistle, but after the water is hot and really boiling. You can see inside the clear glass lid when it is starting to get hot, and you can see steam come out of the spout if you briefly open the whistle top. So, you don't have to wait for a whistle to tell you it is hot enough for your coffee and tea. It also stays hot a long while after you've heated up the water, so if you want to boil your water for coffee before you need to use that burner for your other cooking, the teakettle will keep the water hot til you want it a little later. Viking lives up to its great reputation.

6 months on of VERY heavy use .. we probably go through 4 pots at the minimum every day... And this kettle has been great! Still looks great inside and out. I toss it in the dishwasher regularly.Comfortable to pour and the handle is super comfortable.We use stainless steel.

I can't tell you how many tea kettles I have used up and thrown away for various reasons over the course of my life .... Even some that were pricey .I love this tea kettle everyday I use it. It is sturdy and feels like it will last a lifetime. It has a beautiful finish and feel to the handle. I need one that whistles so I don't let it boil away.. this does. I also like the glass lid so I can tell when it's nearing that boiling point if I want to. It is very easy to wash and keep looking like new. It recommends using medium heat if you want to boil water and I am used to using high. I followed the directions and am amazed how fast It comes to the boil. I am so very glad I bought it and it feels like a treat I gave myself... I know I'm a geek ... and I highly recommend it.

This is good looking and feels well built, but the description alludes to a handle that won’t get hot. Not true at all, I nearly scalded my handed the first use. I had to buy a silicone sleeve to protect myself from getting burned.

It’s a nice, traditional looking key kettle. The handle gets very hot, too hot to touch. I follow the directions and heat on low heat on my gas range. The mirror finish discolors, again following instructions. I expected more from Viking.

Expensive, but you get a Quality item.

We have removed the microwave from our kitchen and eating cleanly. I love this teapot as it heats quickly and gets your attention when it is up to temperature. I have a gas stove and yes the handle gets hot (just like the description said). So I use a pot holder to pick it up. No big deal. I find that I’m drinking more green tea than before and that is good!

Have owned many staineless steel kettles, many pricey last one was Demeyere. At some point theseal, and/or water put off chemicals. Some of the discoloration in my previous kettle cud been cause i had my gas stove flame to high. I have owned this kettle for a month and it looks brand new. It does take abt 9 minutes to heat as the construction heavier than my 3 layer previous one . even with cervical issues its fine, but if you feel the kettle up to the spout could be issue for some. U will need to use a hot padfor the all stainless handle . My last kettle both spout cover, top stopper were stainless whereas these features are not a plus. I do like the glass top feature where you can view water boiling. The whistle is not as scrreching loud as my last but loud enough. The style is more classic than my previous preference , however the quality,n safety, and durability is most impt for me. When i purchase from amazon i always choose my sellers to ensure quality (under New) and impressed with Chefs Arsenal packaging, quick delivery, and instructions. Although i didnt need to, they request bein contacted first if there are any issues. Seller pride a rarity these days
