Therapist approved!
I have been practicing as a Licensed Professional Counselor for 25+ years. I have been looking for an effective trauma journal for a while for patients. This journal fits the bill! I ordered several for my patients and will be reordering.

Great Questions
They say....."The only way to HEAL is to FEEL." Some of these questions definitely HIT YOU... SLAP YOU IN THE FACE!! .... & MAKE YOU CRY & CRINGE..(Well, for me anyways. I've had a very trauma filled life. Unfortunately.)But I love to journal. & I love to answer questions like this that should have been asked by those around me who love & care about me. .But with this journal, I get to surround myself around those I love & work on myself to be a better ME for the ones I love!I love using journals like this cause it truly does help you learn how to HEAL. . . And of course these are questions that many around you wouldn't even think to ask or would be too scared to know what your answers would be and what kind of past & trauma you have been through.Sooooo...Definitely FIVE #5 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Therapist recommended this!
I haven’t used it yet, as I just received it today. I can’t wait to start really healing, and I’m hoping this will help me with just really identifying some wounds I hold within myself. I already journal pretty regularly, just without prompts, so this should be interesting for me!

Good Journal for Personal Growth
I like this book. It’s not difficult to grasp, and I have had a revelations about my life and past that realized from answering the questions. The way the questions are asked help to jog your memory. It’s more of an aid maybe along side counseling. Or a good place to start if you’re on a self improvement journey.

Valuable Resource In Trauma Treatment
As a Marriage and Family Therapist that has been treating trauma since my days as a student I found Dr. Gilbert-Eliot’s Trauma Recovery Journal a refreshing new tool for my toolbox. The journal is suitable for someone to utilize on their own and I believe has the potential to be very effective when integrated into formal trauma treatment. The journal could easily be incorporated as effective homework to benefit the client and create structure for treatment. Dr. Gilbert-Eliot has struck an excellent balance between effective information and strategies that a client could easily understand and the research supported techniques that a treating clinician could utilize. I intend to utilize the journal in my practice moving forward. Thank you, Dr. Gilbert-Eliot for a very practical and useful tool.Rich Shannon, LMFT, LCADC, NCC

Important tool for self discovery
“Dr. Trudy”, with years of experience in the trauma field, has provided an exciting new tool! Built on a foundation of journaling, it takes you through the exploration of naming, defining and identifying. You learn about triggers, positive coping strategies and self care to guide your understanding on the journey. The guided self care components include breathing and mindfulness exercises, an important piece of this evidenced - based journal! Affirmations are sprinkled throughout to further support and encourage progress with the identified personal goal. It is not a replacement for professional help, as the author states, but an effective way of looking at our experience of trauma and determining the steps to recovery.Jodi Ussher, LCSWDisclosure- I was provided with and advance copy for review.

An excellent way to explore and heal
I received my copy of this journal recently, and LOVE IT. The journal is a tool that can be used at your own pace, and the journaling experience is very open, which allows the reader/writer to safely explore and journal his or her own trauma at a safe pace.Navigating trauma can be a very overwhelming experience, and this journal does an excellent job of helping the writer with starting points, coping mechanisms, and goal setting.EXCELLENT, I WOULD GIVE IT 10 STARS IF I COULD!

I have seena psychologist, psychiatrist for my anxiety disorder who were all terrible. I have a HND in psychology myself so understand alot about my condition but needed help. This journal is the only thing along with medication that has helper me at a huge level. This journal just makes sense. It's super easy to use and when re reading my notes in it everything was clear for me that i started to understand the whole picture of why i hav my disorder and how to better manage it. I highly recommend this fot anyone who has severe anxiety, depression, PTSD, ADHD or OCD

Very useful
I have a few trauma journals and use them alongside with my therapist. This one is so far the best one out of those I purchased on amazon. It is written by a Dr therefore I trust the questions are relevant and some of them really brough out memories which I long forgotten about. Many questions made me cry when answering them and I realized that things which i would never consider being traumatic, actually very deeply are. I can recommend this journal to anyone who doesn't know when to start their healing journey.
