Essential piece of kit for my circus exhibition
Last year I was offered a photography exhibition in Zippos Circus on Twickenham Green. The boss told me that my photos would have to be covered in plastic to keep the water off them. I bought this laminator in red and started laminating about 80 images. It was heartbreaking to put nice photos through the machine but I chose professional laminating pouches which were nice and glossy with rounded corners. When I started putting the photos up on boards in the circus tent, a big pool of water ran down all over my exhibition. Thank goodness I laminated them was my first thought. I also used the laminator on A4 posters which I put up around town. When the exhibition was over, I wondered what I would do with all these plastic covered photos but I have used them again in another exhibition and also given them to the circus performers.I am having another 'tent' exhibition when the circus comes to town this year so I will be laminating again. Very pleased with the Swordfish. All I would say is that a couple of my photos had a special finish on them and the laminating pouches did not like this at all and bubbled dramatically. I learned a lesson to only use a standard printing finish and this works absolutely fine.

Very neat and tidy
This is my first laminator. First time on, it gave off the usual "new hot thing" smell that is a bit worrying until you get used to it. But second time it was a lot cleaner. The instructions are straightforward, and the controls clearly marked. It sat neatly on my desk and the underside didn't get warm so no worries about placing it on top of something delicate. Ping the "ready" light comes on and I simply fed my items in through the front. It does seem to take forever to disgorge the finished product, but they come out reasonably cool so once again they don't damage anything on the desk.It comes with 5 A4 laminating envelopes, thin (75micron). I also bought the swordfish Starter Pack which includes more A4 laminating envelopes, also A5, A6 and business card sized. Why did I choose this one?My office is full of stuff. I needed something that was small in operation, and easy to put away when not in use. This neat item in a neat box fits at the bottom of the pile because it is nice and flat.It takes a variety of thicknesses of laminator pouches. I don't know whether I'll use different thicknesses, but I'd rather be prepared.Once it arrived, I realised just how well designed it is. I can see it will give years of service.I like the way it doesn't get hot underneath, and when something exits from the laminator, it isn't too hot. That saves damaging my cluttered desk.

Cool Laminator
Brilliant Design.Laminators are not what you would call 'cool'. However this one comes close. It does its job brilliantly. Can fit on a shelf or under a pile of books so does not add to clutter, and unlike perhaps every laminator I have seen in the past is not an eye saw.The huge heated rollers and genius, and lower the likelyhood of paper jams ten fold.As suggested by others, I suggest you wait about 10mins for it to heat up 'properly'. The built in thermostat has a status light which will change color after about 3min; however for best results I suggest waiting 7-12min. Then the laminate will be truly heated and pressed by it.I've used it with 3rd party laminates and the Swordfish laminates. It works well with both. the swordfish laminates are pricey but hight quality. If you run a small business and need to laminate menus or something they are up to the job.

Don't waste your time and money!
Dreadful, jammed on every attempt and I have plenty of experience with a prior Swordfish model (230LR). I thought I was upgrading my machine by ordering this one, it has 4 rollers after all, but it's useless. My old machine has never jammed so I shall go back to that and this one will be returned. By the way, similar to a prior review, my machine had a dip in the top as well but I swear it wasn't there until it heated up.

Reliable and an attractive appearance on the desktop
I used an older style swordfish for years with never any problem. The new model seems to live up to all the qualities of the olde model. It certainly looks better and is lighter and it does a fine job. I've no complaints, in fact I am delighted with the product.
