Otrivine adult nasal spray contains the active ingredient xylometazoline, which is a type of medicine called a decongestant.? When this medicine is sprayed into the nose, the xylometazoline works by acting on alpha receptors that are found in the walls of blood vessels in the linings of the nasal passages and sinuses. It causes these blood vessels to contract and narrow, thereby decreasing blood flow into the linings of the nose and sinuses. This reduces swelling and the feeling of congestion. It also reduces the production of mucus, helping to relieve a blocked nose. The nasal spray helps relieve congestion in a few minutes and the effect of the medicine lasts for up to 10 hours. As the medicine causes the blood vessels in the nose to contract, it minimises the amount of medicine that is absorbed into the bloodstream from the nose. This means that the nasal spray has a relatively local effect in the nose and is unlikely to have side effects on other parts of the body.

Otrivin Oxy, this is not... Close enough, though...
First off, let me get out of the way that this product arrived as "Otrivine", not "Otrivin" as the product page states. Also, not a single word of the instructions were in English. I could have been reluctant to try it based on that (Like many others that ordered it seemed to do), but I did my research, and discovered it's the exact same product, but just a different way of administering it.Okay, now that's out of the way, I just want to say that this product does the job, though I prefer the "Oxy" brand Otrivin because this product made my nose drippy, I always had to keep some tissues nearby to catch it.Other than that, it does what it's supposed to do. If you don't mind nasal drip as a result of this medicine, I recommend it fully, though another product is destined for me.

From Turkey
The three bottles have labels written in what I assume is Turkish. No English instructions. No plastic safety wrap over the top of the bottle. No way to tell what’s in them. Will not use this stuff.Too risky.Sending them back.

It no longer sells in my country
I live in Venezuela so I used these for a couple of years when GlaxoSmithKline produced it in my country, but then they left based on the socioeconomical and political problems,, and I've never found them again until I saw them on Amazon. They're great as always, even though I remember the ones that I boght here lasted a little longer than these ones. Nevertheless I will buy them again, sine they are the most suited for my nasal problem.

Never fails to clear my sinuses
Having frequent allergy related sinus issues has compelled me to try a lot of different nasal sprays. This one works in minutes and relieves congestion for hours.

Quick Acting Decongestant
The metered dose of this decongestant delivers a precise amount of the liquid. It works fast in opening nasal passages and seems to not develop a rebound effect when used moderately. The sprays received came from overseas and were well packaged.
