There are many good translations of the Psalms, yet this one is special in so many ways. In this day in which we live, there are many voices designed by our enemy to drown out and minimize the voice of our God. However using an anointing given by the Holy Spirit, Brian has managed to transcribe from the Lord, words that bypass the intellect and speak directly to the heart.Righteousness must come from an intimate relationship with God, and this translation is saturated with intimacy. It is like getting to know the one true love of your life. Like Paul we will be able to say, for me live is Christ, and to die is gain. In closing I highly recommend this book as a step toward intimacy with the creator of the universe. Intimacy that will fill you with the Glory of God causing his light to radiate to a lost and dying world.

When I first heard the Passion Version of Psalm 91, I knew I wanted to have a copy of it. I looked through many of my Bibles and searched online through parallel Scriptures, but could not find it. Then when listening again to an mp3 message from Bill Johnson, I got the clue I needed - Brian Simmons' name. Immediately, I looked the author up on Amazon, only to learn that this particular book hadn't yet been released. Nevertheless, I did not hesitate to pre-order Psalms: Poetry on Fire. When it arrived, I was so delighted to finally have my own copy.The Psalms are inspiring, comforting, and encouraging in almost any translation; however, I recommend The Passion Translation very highly. It is easily comprehensible because it transforms the familiar text into contemporary language without compromising the fervor of expression. It will be satisfying to anyone who appreciates the Book of Psalms, and it would make a great gift. I really like it.

I have been a Christian for 29 years, and I have used a number of Bible translations. Since I discovered The Passion Translation in March, I have used it as much as possible. It has brought out many shades of meaning that I had no idea about. I love the way Brian views everything thru the lens of The Great Commandment. This passionate love from God to us/from us to God comes through on every page. I only wish he had the whole Bible done. Goad for the many books Brian has put out so far! I highly recommend The Passion Translation for anyone wanting to passionately pursue Jesus.

I absolutely love the Passion Translation. God has truly gifted Dr. Simmons with the ability to bring the word into modern and intimate terminology while maintaining the originality of the Hebrew and Aramaic version. The balance is brilliant. The footnotes allow you to read the word as written. The original word maintains it's integrity while the modern word takes you into a deeper understanding of the scripture. Many times, I have just sat there and wept as I read these Psalms. Be prepared to enter a deeper time of intimacy with The Lord.I highly recommend this book. I have already purchased many as gifts . Trust me whomever receives it from you will be extremely grateful for this gift!

If you are searching for Jesus (Yeshua) in the Old Covenant, He is there, but none so evident as in "The Passion Translation" of the Psalms, "POETRY ON FIRE"...His presents and love can be felt throughout all the Psalms... we serve a Lord that is so passionate for His creation; US! this has changed the way I see David and those who wrote the psalms- it is beautiful - I read it and say "that's what you were saying?!! you can tell how much david LOVED God and his relationship with him and he "saw" so much he was a man ahead of his time - I have htis and the version of Song of Solomon and I highly recommend it to those who are in a intimate journey with God- you will see how Loved you are and be clearer on Whose you are and how your love impacts God and the world..

It is difficult to write as well as our Bibles. To hold a fresh and fiery version up alongside those favorites is unfair. Was this a good book? Very good. He did an excellent work bringing more life into the already very expressive literature of our Holy Psalms. A worthy alternative view.

I have several translations of the Bible but the Passion is my favorite. Its written in today's language without losing the meaning of the original text. The Psalms come alive, more beautiful than ever. David's words flow from the pages in a way that I've never experienced before. Easier to read, easier to comprehend, and easier than ever to memorize because the language is what we use in our every day conversation. A must have for Bible readers.

I am aged 51 and have studied theology since I was 20. The Passion Translation is the most amazing and provocative collection of books I have read in ages. Brian Simmons is clearly the perfect balance of a Spirit-filled man who is also a scholar. His delving into the Aramaic started a journey of study for me which has led me into getting other books which are richly blessing me. Every few sentences you read of TPT creates a stir in your spirit and gets the old grey matter working, and I highly recommend the excellent footnotes. It really is like studying the Bible for the first time. I'm just praying Brian finishes the entire Bible...and soon! Buy it!

The Psalms have so much to teach us today but can be difficult to understand. Brian Simmons has made them available to ordinary people.

This a very good look at the Psalms in a very up to date way and for new Christians brings out a better understanding. I would recommend it to everyone even as a way of understanding the background of Christianity in relation to the Jewish origin of where we are coming from as Christians.
