The product works great and is extremely sturdy. Satisfies my wife demands that all of my ammo should be locked up. Messed up on the first install do to miscalculating center and so had to enlarge the hole on the front plate. More of an issue on my part then on the actual product. Will be ordering a few more for other ammo cans that I need to secure still.

I see a few reviews and comments about how easy it would be to defeat the lock.YES! The lock you use will be the weakest link (as in any other application).The hardware itself is good quality, easy to install and seems to seal well enough that the integrity of the sealed can remains intact.This is a great deterrent and a thief will have to either walk off with the can or make a little noise defeating the lock.Honestly, this is more for keeping kids and visitors from easy access to whatever you may have inside the can.One note...I have had 100% success installing these on boxes larger than 50 cal., 90% on 50 cal. and about 50% on boxes smaller than 50. cal. I'm sure if I took more time and used the right tools (for the tighter tolerances) required to drill the smaller boxes, I would have a much higher rate of success.

The lock lug is stainless steel and well made. The lug is 1/2" diameter which is larger than the hole on the latch handle on my 5.56mm ammo can. I used a dremel to widen the hole. But after that, the lug fit through the handle just fine. A step drill bit would be great for this too.

got the locks and was pretty easy to install. Good quality stuff. Will buy again soon.
