being an event photographer, I shoot in dark/ Low lit locations for a living. When I upgraded from a Nikon DSLR's to a Sony Mirrorless, I found that the AF illuminator on the Sony camera body was insufficient for consistent quality in low lit venues.I also found that most flash's for Sony had an AF assist lamp, which I found brought too much attention when I was taking images. Because of all this, I was in dire need of a flash that had a working AF assist beam! Thankfully, I can say this product so far hasn't disappointed!In single-shot AF the flash locks on to my point of focus easily. I have been focus up close an personal to even to even something a few hundred yards away.From my experience, the flash is very powerful and holds a lot of charge in it's battery ( I have been able to shoot with 1/4th power for about 6 or 7 hours and still have two bars of battery left!)The modelling light for off camera flash is also very useful. Allowing me to previz the light and focus on my subjects when taking portraits. Also works amazingly in Slave mode!The only thing I'm currently not a fan of is the plasticky bottom end of the camera when mounting onto the hot shoe adapter. However it seems to be quite a sturdy build in any case.So if you're looking for a dependable flash with a great Af assist beam for the Sony A7 series,(and cheaper than the V1) I'd wholly recommend the V860IIIS !.

Great options with the flash I also bought the trigger to use off camera flash and really happy with it including the high camera sync which I think is up to 1/8000 of a sec with my Sony a7iii. Highly recommend
