My review of ANEWKODI AC1200 Dual Band Wireless Wi-Fi USB 3.0 AdapterFirst of all this adapter has a maximum theoretical speed of 867Mbps on 5Ghz and 300Mbps on 2.4Ghz and instead of USB 2.0 it comes with a USB 3.0 connector. USB 2.0 has a maximum throughput of 480Mbps and USB 3.0 5Gbps (over 10 times as fast), however in testing this adapter was no faster than my current USB 2.0 AC 1200 adapter. The reason for this is that due to the nature of WiFi it is unlikely that even in optimum conditions to see a network speed of 50% of the maximum throughput. And this was confirmed with my testing. I have a pretty good router, the Asus RT A66U which is AC1750 and tested the throughput of the wireless adapter using software called Lan Speed Test. In my office which is around 65ft from the router I returned maximum speeds on 5.0Ghz of 143Mbps and when I tested at 20ft from the router I returned speeds of 450Mbps. Don’t get me wrong, this is 4 times faster than 2.4ghz speeds at the same locations, however not as fast as I would have expected and no faster than my older 2.0 USB adapter. Having said all of this, this adapter is extremely good value, my 2 year old USB 2.0 adapter is still twice as much.It was very simple to set up on my Win 10 laptop. Plug and play, no drivers required. Windows recognized the device immediately.Great value, little bulky and reasonable speed, however I think that USB 3.0 is more of a gimmick for now. First of all, this product arrived with a usb form factor that was actually too small to fit in a usb port, making it completely unusable.Secondly, it was white by color, making it usb 2.0 and NOT USB 3.0 as claimed. I returned it minutes later.

so far the device is working. I trouble on the first install but it appeared to be an OS issue. I have tried it on several machines and it has worked so far. It seems to be fine just plugging it in and letting windows select and install the driver. I used the CD to install and that was the machine it did not work on. May not be the software installer but I do not know yet.

This product is just like a crap. I plugged it into my Windows 10 PC and it only works for less than 10 seconds. Then it was automatically disconnect itself and I have to unplug and re-plug it in order to let it working for another 10 seconds. I losted my patient and just returned it.

It has serious issues with packet losses. I can't use this to game online at all. Dota 2 packet losses are nuts despite low ping, and I can't even play a relatively simple session of Runescape without lagging out. Completely worthless

You can do whole lot better
