In her twenty-plus years in existence, oddballs, outcasts, and art freaks the world over have grown to know and love a strange young girl named Emily. With roots in the punk-rock art scene of Santa Cruz skate culture and an early appeal to European trend spotters, the iconic image of Emily and her philosophy of devout individualism have become deeply rooted in global culture. The Art of Emily Volume 2: Odds and Ends is the second-ever collection of images showing the wide and inspired range of artistic styles and mediums that have been used to create the world of Emily the Strange. From silk-screened vinyl skateboard stickers to custom rock-and-roll album art, large-scale psychedelic paintings, and insanely intricate Mongolian paper cutting, the fantastic and artful imaginings of Rob Reger, Buzz Parker, and a staggeringly talented array of collaborators will give insight and inspiration to any Emily fan. This volume reads and views like a scrapbook history of art and designs which have created the world of Emily the Strange. * The world's affection for Emily the Strange can be seen at futuristic shopping malls in Tokyo, in Dutch Halloween fanzines, on the walls of metal clubs in Germany, and throughout the United States! Review: Meh... - I love Emily but this art book is really bad. The pages are all black and white even tho it has many pretty arts that look like they are really cool if they had any color.... it feels like a manga. I was confused when opening the package, way small and just disappointing ๐ I don't recomend this, there's better Emily the strange things out there. Review: Black and White, Non-Glossy - When I purchased this, I thought it would be a large and glossy, full-color art book. I was disappointed to find out that the entire book is COMPLETELY black and white on regular, non-glossy paper. I am visually impaired, and this format with lack of color contrast is particularly difficult for me in terms of distinguishing images. While this is certainly not the case for everyone, I just thought it would be helpful to write up this review to assist others who may be looking for a traditional full-color, glossy art book. There IS an Emily art book that meets that criteria; itโs a hardcover book just called The Art of Emily The Strange from 2009. However, it appears you can only get it in used condition.
